Not really. There are a couple of guys who have shot out of the gate, i.e., Shattenkirk and Marino, but small sample size and past history suggest that won't last. Only worry for me is if COL puts Toews on a lesser, non-Makar, pairing for the season and restricts Toews' 5x5 production. But we can't know that at the moment. Some guys might be lateral moves. But no one stands out as being I guy I'd definitely say is going to be more valuable than Toews when Toews is playing.

Agree with this, and if Martinez had not been recently injured I'd add him here - he scored at a 50+ point pace last year, and while that may have been an anomaly he was getting insanely good deployment (top pairing and PP1) when injured, so 40-45 is definitely in the cards (which I think beats Toews and these other guys). But I'm not sure it's enough of a dent to do it.

And in a keeper league now way I give up Toews.

Ok. I’ve never really followed DT until this draft. His plus minus was what drew me in but what makes you say your last statement?

I’m going to hop into this thread as I was considering offering Giroux for Toews. Would that be smart?

Right now I only have 1 bench D, and would like two for injury protection and I guess it would be Giroux or Rust as my most expendable forwards (with Rust being injured I can’t trade him). Or maybe Buchnevich but I think I’m better off holding onto him.

Very solid dman a sure bet to put up 40-50 on that Avs squad. He's 27 so not young, but younger than Martinez (34) who I was pushing.

Toews is travelling, so I'd stick with him. Avs are a bit of a mess right now, but it has to get sorted out eventually. The only comparable is Martinez, but he's out.

Martinez good call in a multicat - back first game and puts up 6 blocks.
