Scheifele with a positive test, but now a negative and could still play tonight if he gets another negative today.

Would have come back positive.

Because he's going through these steps means he's asymptomatic. If he continues to be Asymptomatic, I think he just needs 3 negative tests in a row 24hrs apart. But if he gets symptoms, then he's in quarantine for 10days at a min. Then once the symptoms are gone, he needs 3 negative tests in a row to get back. Something along those lines.

Toronto Radio on Schefiele front: i heard he tested positive, then negative then positive again on game day and he is also symptomatic. They said its almost guaranteed he misses several games.

lol, you're right, i should have been more specific

does he have covid? was a close contact? is he testing positive/negative? i'm more curious about the timeline. he went into protocol last friday, so we're 7 days into it and there really hasnt been much discussed outside of he's in protocol

They have 0 requirement to say anything.

If he's been in it this long, he's tested positive.
If you test positive on Friday with 0 symptoms, you need 2 (or 3, forget) more tests 24hrs apart that come back negative to get out of protocol. So if he's asymptomatic, he's had a positive test somewhere in there, plus a 2nd positive after because it's been so long.

If he has symptoms, he's in a 10day quarantine minimum and needs 3 negative tests 24hrs apart once he has no symptoms to come out of protocol.

Ya it's just "COVID Protocol" and it could be anything from close contact to symptomatic COVID positive. Most teams say "he has covid" just to avoid the same questions for the next week+ about the player. Maybe Strome has requested to not have that info out there for his own reasons. It is weird for the general public to know if I'm sick or not while I'm sick.

Another COVID Protocol case has popped up in the NHL, this time in St. Louis. The Blues have announced that forward Brandon Saad will be unavailable on Saturday due to COVID Protocol. Saad, as well as the entire Blues roster, is vaccinated.
The Blues have not revealed the cause of Saad’s entry into the COVID Protocol. However, the fact that he has already been ruled out of a game that is 48 hours away would imply that he has tested positive.
