Default Trade strategies - my Ekholm for his Mittelstadt

    Hello all,

League in signature (points only, keeper league). I'm in a rebuild and I want to manage accordingly. I have 2 mindset:
    1. Trade non-keepers for futur assets and potential keeper.
    2. Cautious approach with trades and try to remain competitive

I'm already kicking myself for burning a FA on Krebs. Amazing kid but should have waited a little bit. I don't want to still be stuck with a bunch on "maybe's" and still have weird decisions to make when keeper time comes.

So here's the offer I received:

My Ekholm and 8th round for his Mittelstadt and a 4th.

    • Ekholm is definitely not a keeper, but trading him will affect my flexibility having no backup D this year... and I don't want to burn my last FA on another non-keeper D
    • OR
    • Eventhough Mitt is in buffalo, it's still a potential breakout and keeper. Considering my rebuild... don't hesitate.

Would you do it? What would be your strategy for this year.

    Thx!

If you're rebuilding to the point that you dropped Keller for Krebs, you don't need to worry about holding backup D, you're fine with losing.

If you only have 2 FA moves per year, I'd hold on to the last one.

That sort of league isn't one I'd likely be in, though. I've had way too much experience with losing players to injury to handle that sort of thing. I was once in a football league where I lost 3 QB's between the draft and week 1, we drafted halfway through the preseason, and they all got hurt. No free agency before week 1, and trade options of course sucked, so I just put an injured guy in.

    Thank you for the input.

I guess you’re right. Dont halfass things. I’m in a rebuild, and keep that strategy. I’ll keep the last FA.

    Thx!
