    Default Carlson vs Hedman vs Fox

    Hey all. About to do a re-draft this weekend in a 10-team, points only keeper league. Each team is allowed to keep 1 player (Makar is mine).

    Looking at targeting Vasi early, as well as stacking my d-men (employ position scarcity strategy).

    Over the next 3 years, how would you rank Carlson-Hedman-Fox?

    Thanks in advance!
    KEEPER LEAGUE
    --> 10 team points-only keeper; 20 roster moves; rosters roll over to playoffs
    --> 12F-6D-2G [bench]; keep 4F-2D-1G-1WC
    --> F&D: G/A = 1; hat-trick = 2 bonus
    --> G: W = 2; OTL = 1; SO = 2 bonus

    Keeper: Makar

    I like Fox but the other 2 guys have done it on a consistent basis. So I’d go Carlson, Hedman then Fox.

    Ok…thanks.

    But over the next 3 years, would Carlson start to regress more than the other guys? His supporting cast is a little older than the other guys. Plus, he’s gonna be 32 in January.

    What about even a guy like Barrie?

    Yes, I think Carlson will regress a tad... and the Caps will monitor his usage during the regular season. Fox is just getting warmed up and Hedman is smack dab in his prime. Barrie, nah, you can keep him... Edmonton factor and all.

    Ok…so then top D in a points-only keeper league over next 3 years would be Makar, Hedman & Fox?

    Anyone else to consider?

    Each year, we keep 3 D, 6 F & 1G…I’m planning on focusing on G & D early.

    Q.Hughes and Ekblad need to be up there. Carlson flanking as well. Werenski and Chabot have the chops to bust in as well IMO. Hamilton...

    Makar, Hedman, Hughes, Fox, Carlson, Ekblad are my top-6 and I sleep well at night with any 3 of them.

    Fox, Carlson, Hedman.

    Going Fox is a gamble, but I do have Carlson higher than Hedman. The difference is the ceilings of both D-men. Hedman is a GREAT D-man, but his points only ceiling is lower than Carlson's in my opinion. Hedman can out-point Carlson and I wouldn't be surprised, but Carlson's ceiling is higher than Hedman's and both have similar floors.

    If it is a keep 1, re-draft league, and you already have Makar, then why are we discussing three years? You clearly wouldn’t keep any of these people over Cale Makar. Just confused by the whole thread. If you really are looking at three years, then:

    Fox, Hedman, and who is the other guy?
    CONDORS, 2022-23 league champions, Reg Dunlop Mem Cup

    12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.

    Stutzle, Sergachev
    Keller, Doughty, Verhaeghe, ErikssonEk
    E.Lindholm, Barzal, J.Gaudreau, Huberdeau, S. Wright

    It is normally a keep 10 (6F-3D-1G) league from year to year. However, every 4th year, we are only allowed to keep 1, essentially doing a re-draft every 4 years. This is our re-draft year, where we keep 1. Thus, the next 3 years we will be keeping 6-3-1.

    And I have kept Makar heading into the re-draft.

    I love those rules !! Too many keeper leagues, the same guys keep 6 each x 12 GM’s and there’s YEARS without much movement - - and then over half of them will never trade a keeper….. gets stale. Now I get it - and my opinion is solidified as to rankings.
