Hip injuries can likely cause groin injuries. I'd wonder if it's a hernia also.

For those who dont like to click on links, the text in the tweet shared above states:

Hearing the initial word on Nikita Kucherov is not positive and surgery could be involved. Assuming that's accurate, I'd expect him to miss some time moving forward, should know more later today #GoBolts #TBLightning

So the surgery on his hips he had did not fix the issue permanently, by the looks of it. The play on which he got injured was such a nothing play.

Overcompensation to muscles elsewhere is what usually happens. It could just be he's putting added stress somewhere else without even realizing then gets jarred the wrong way on the leg and his groin is flexed more than normal?

It's not that the hip surgery was unsuccessful, just could be surgery to the hip, caused other stuff which is common. Think like breaking your ankle, then getting hip issues because of the walking boot. Your ankle healed, but the rehab/rest caused you to have a hip issue. And maybe the walking boot adjusted the way you walk and will cause hip issues forever.

I'm also just a forumer without all the info lol.

What you're saying makes sense. We'll know for sure once the official diagnosis is reported later today.

Classic Kucherov. Going to miss the season for another "injury" only to return for a playoff Cup run

As a Kucherov owner, I fail to see the humour in this post

Yeah agree on the groin being impacted by the hip - I broke my fibula last year and realized that the months of PT is as much about the other joints / muscles (hips, especially) getting back to normal as the ankle itself.

I never wish injury on any player, even the ones that are so worthy of disdain, but this couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. I don’t care how many points this guy puts up, and that he’s a lock for Hall of Fame, he’s got zero class. Dissing “that guy in Vegas” who has 3 Cups, shitting on the Habs fans, etc. I know this won’t be a popular take with some, but it’s how I feel - the high class folks in the NHL lift everyone else up and are who our kids can emulate, the Béliveau, Sakic, Yzerman, Iginla types, and today guys like Toews and Crosby, never in a million years would they do what that creep did. And yeah I realize he had just crushed 10 Bud lites, but still. Rant over.

It would be delicious to watch the hockey world lose its mind if TBL puts him on LTIR again this year but I own him in a few leagues (including the money league in my sig) and dont want him out long term.
