    Default Seguin slow start

Going into this season there were definitely concerns about how Seguin would look this year after recovering from injury. I know it is still super early but it looks like he is getting a lot of ice time but not producing at all. What is concerning is that he doesn't even seem to be generating any shots that were his bread and butter before. I am going to stick with him a while longer but was wondering what other people are thinking. Is he just starting slow coming off an injury or is this going to be a long year for him? I hate being that guy who panics after one week but he is concerning me already.

It is entirely possible that his recovery from the torn labrum is affecting him. That being said, it is week 1, very early, and no conclusions can be drawn apart from the fact that Max Pacioretty is not going to get more than 70 points this season.

Seguin is definitely off to a slow start, but he is averaging over 20 minutes a game, so that is positive....

I would not jettison him quite yet.

I understand the concern but he deserves a long leash because of the things you mention. He hasn't played a lot of hockey lately and it's just a few games. I hold him unless you can show me a FA or a trade where you clearly get the better player. You can count on one hand the players in the NHL who don't go through 3 game slumps, so we need to see more. I would give him 20 games before looking at alternatives because of who he is. And even then, I'm still being very cautious and looking at every angle of why he's not producing and if it will change this year.

If you were to look at John Tavares you would also think he's off to a slow start. But he is getting the minutes and the chances (sooo many). Don't know how many chances Seguin is getting but it's only a matter of time guys like JT and Seguin get going. I've watched all the Leaf games and JT should have at least 3 goals and 6 points. Maybe more, but that's hockey and hopefully things turn around.
