    Default Garland!

Garland, Canucks fans gonna love this kid! A little warrior with skill, the angry elf indeed!

And 3 pts in 3 games, ho hum.

Garland with his goal on Saturday now has 3 points in 3 games.

He's getting awesome TOI, on average 19:05, but only PP2 time (which accounts for only 30% or so of Vancouver PP allotment).

He's been stapled on the 2nd line next to Horvat, which is solid deployment.

It's early but Garland is shaping up to be one of those guys who produces despite getting only PP2 time - like Ehlers. I'm not saying he's at the level of Ehlers, no way, but he is in his mold in terms of producing no matter what ice time or deployment he gets.

And far more important is how much he is becoming the heart and soul of this team, especially in the fans' eyes - Canuck fans are, dare I say it, a bit fickle? The fact that they are so quickly falling in love with this guy and the style of game he brings speaks volumes.

He really stood out in the few games I watched of his last year on Arizona. I'm glad I made a trade for him this offseason. I think he
is a 60ish point player unless he gets PP1 and exposure to Petersson and Miller in which case I would bump him up to 70-75 pts. I am somewhat concerned about injuries with him due to his size and how he plays.

Garland, what a player - another beauty game winner last night:

    https://twitter.com/canucks/status/1...212115466?s=21

Up to 3G and 8 pts in 6, with a +3. Only blemish is only 10SOG through 6, but I bet that changes for the better.

And he’s such a character - doing this to a heckling fan that had previously given him the finger, returning to the bench after his goal:

And then there’s this special empty netter:

    LOL

He’s playing great. Full of energy and creates chances off the fore check. Well deserved start for him, gives the Canucks some secondary scoring.

Totally agree! I think him and Bo Horvat have rather complimentary styles of play! They've been fun to watch together. It's nice to see them have a strong game together, even when the team was getting outshot and Petterson + Miller were invisible. Demko looked amazing once again. I watched and liked Garland a lot in Arizona, but it was the world championships where I realized just how good he was.

Garland moved up to 1st line, Boeser’s spot with Pettersson and Miller, and sparked the nice comeback in the 3rd last night.

Played 19+ minutes too, with (finally!) some PP1 time.

    First 10 games as a Canuck: 10pts (3G 7A), 19 SOG, +6

    Not too shabby!

Still can't believe Arizona wouldn't pay him $5M to stay long term.
Think Canucks fans finally believing that was a good trade - even with OEL.

I think moving OEL was a negligible cost. If anything that's actually good foresight as it takes advantage of a soon to be declining value and frees cap space that can be used to bargain with. Garland probably would have hurt tanking efforts and he may not have wanted to stick around and wallow in the stank that is the Arizona trash heap right now.
