    Default Moving Lafreniere for Hart?

A manager in my league has offered me this deal in a 1 for 1. My immediate reaction is no, because goalies are voodoo and I think Laf has more potential to become what he has been touted as than Hart does. He has been the supposed goalie of the future in Philly for the last several years, but in all my time watching hockey I have seen many supposed “goalies of the future” simply fizzle out.

The reason why I am contemplating this trade is because my tendies are in shambles…I suuuuper lucked out with Keumper moving to Arizona but he’s still yet to have a healthy season. Price is on IR until how long and Samsonov didn’t even get the opening night start lol.

What is your gut feeling when it comes to making this move in a dynasty league?

I wouldn't do it. I think your goaltending looks pretty solid. And if you really want to bolster it, in an 8-team league, I'd have to imagine there are lots of teams with quality goalies they deem movable. You don't desperately need to bring in an upper tier guy. I'd shop around.

I'd keep Laf, especially in an 8 team league where there should be other decent goalies available for cheaper (or a pickup).

I'd also pass. I think Hart is the goalie of the now and future for the Flyers, but in an 8 team league, you should be able to find somebody worth rostering on the wire often, so I'd pass on giving up high end skater talent.

Hard no. Lafreniere is going to be a stud. And if you really wanted to shop him, you should be able to get a better return than just Hart. I do expect Hart to bounce back, but give me a star winger over an average/above average goalie any day.

I got two words for ya: Ivan Fedotov

Hart was horrible again today..his positioning on few goals was just horrible and he didn’t even try to compete in shootout

Neither kid has proven much early in their careers so far. Lafreniere has more name value today because of Hart's sub-par season last year. If Hart hasn't crapped the bed last year, I'm sure this would be closer.

Today, I think I'd hold off. It's early in the season. I'd also counter with someone like Kubalik. I'm not ready to write off Hart just yet.

Thanks for all the help guys. I agree that Laf was a bit steep and I didn’t feel totally comfortable with that at the moment. Axeman, we had actually been tendering offers back and forth for a little before funny enough he sent me Kubalik for Hart straight up earlier this morning and that was the offer I jumped on. He’s a solid player but not in the best situation in CHI with no clear path to consistent PP1 time, so I felt this was worth the gamble. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite me because I believe in Hart as well, might just have to weather the storm for a while. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all the answers, I’ll rep where I can!
