I'd take Sorokin... probably even for this year since it's W (I think NYI will win enough to cover the games played discrepancy) and rate stats.

But wouldn't fault you for taking Samsonov if it's just this year.

Sorokin, as I think the SV% will be better. Shutouts are a crapshoot, mostly, but the Isles play a conducive style to get them. I'd expect Samsonov to have a few more wins, if he avoids a true split of the starts.

Battle of the Ilya's...

I am leaning a titch toward Sorokin even for this season. Varly is starting hurt and the Isles are so good defensively.

Obviously Sorokin in a keeper.

Today, I feel Samsonov has a better lock on the actual starting position in Washington than Sorokin does in NYI. Both are very good teams so both should do very well.

Short term, I prefer Samsonov but I can see the bell swinging more towards Sorokin down the road.
