Brannstrom cut?

Was looking at lineups on dailyfaceoff and Brannstrom was nowhere to be found? Was he cut? Any info on him would be good. Thanks.

Hasn't been cut last I checked but the Sens are rostering 8 defensemen at the moment so Brannstrom will start the season in the press-box.

I doubt that very much. He had 3 pts in 5 games in the pre-season. He skated 19:35 a game with almost 4 mins per game on the PP. Doesn't seem like press box pre-season usage.

That’s what I thought, too. Looked really good when I was watching him. Also, Dobber projected 35 points in 75 games for him this year, so I was a bit surprised. Not that dailyfaceoff is the most reliable source.

I saw practice lines somewhere today (apologies I don't remember where or else I'd link to it) that showed MDZ/Brann as the "out" pair. I don't expect that to be the usual though - perhaps beefing up a bit (e.g. J.Brown) for their opener?

Yeah, could just be for the opener. There’s no way Brannstrom doesn’t see regular playing time this year. Too talented.

What is wrong is that MDZ or Brown may play if both Mete or Brannstrom don’t. Plenty of room for both Mete and Brannstrom on the ice.

I'm excited for him to get traded this season. Sens don't realize what they have... you can't play Chabot 30 minutes a night for 82 games, he'll break.... and i don't think your power play is gonna thank you when Zaitsev is your power play QB and is your best defender on the ice. They say the rebuild is over but that defence is still awful

Ohhhh - they had to send him down because with Murray out they had to bring Gustavsson up to back up Forsberg. Brannstrom was the only D player on the roster who didn’t have to clear waivers.

yup this is 100% accurate....he will be back as soon as Murray is ready or there is another injury.
