Default Svechnikov safe on top line?

    Hi,

About a week ago I read that Svechnikov had practiced on Line 3, at least for awhile.

Surely he is going to play top line and top line PP, yes? Is there any risk that he isn't with Aho a lot?

    Thanks

I haven't been keeping up on Canes camp, but it doesn't surprise me that he is practicing on line three. Between Nino, Necas, Svech and Teravainen it seems that Brindamour is comfortable juggling lines. He was on the third line for a period of last year, perhaps because they feel he can drive a line himself. I think he will likely play first line a good chunk of the season but wouldn't be surprised if they juggle things around to try and balance scoring for periods

I haven't seen much in terms of ES lines, but PP1 throughout training camp has consistently been Svechnikov, Aho, Teravainen, Trocheck, and DeAngelo.

Whether he sees time on the top line or not, he's going to eventually be a 80+ point producer one day. And as Tobias said, he should be an easy choice on the PP1. I would argue Necas should be with Aho on that top unit based on their insane chemistry and possession numbers. But perhaps Brind'Amour wants to spread the wealth. Also, it's the preseason.

I wouldn't be too worried, he can drive play regardless of line and will be on the top PP. He should be looked at as a 60 point floor with an 80 point ceiling for this year. His value goes up quite a bit in banger leagues (hits + PIMS)

most recently Svech has been playing with Aho and Necas. Rod has said not to take too much stock into lines and pairings though

PP1 has consistently been Svech Aho Teuvo Trocheck and DeAngelo as noted above.

Here we go again with Rod dispersing the talent. Svech slotted in on the third line, or line 1c depending on how you view these lines.

Trocheck, Svechnikov, and Teravainen is a terrific line. I have no problem with Svechnikov being there, and getting 1st unit pp time.

Isn't that really the best line of the 3? Honestly, I could see that line getting the most ice time of those 3 most nights. Although I'm sure the difference in TOI won't be huge between any of them.

Yeah, not sure why anyone is freaking out. Honestly, for any of Trocheck/Svechnikov/Teravainen, this is MONEY deployment.

Elite line with elite talent, and maybe not facing the same opposition talent as Aho's line. I love these stacked line 2s.

Just because they're listed 3rd, doesn't make them the 3rd most talented line.

Trochek centering Teravainen and Svech is a 2nd line..maybe 1st line. Between Aho, KK, Necas and them, they'll be battling for offensive zone starts and the Staal line will be used as a defensive line. They might get some more minutes depending on matchup against the other teams top line, but I don't know how much that happens this early in the season.

Yeah my sources are telling me he’s been permanently bumped by Seth Jarvis.

    Care to share your sources?

I find it hard to believe that Jarvis jumps over Svechnikov permanently without any NHL games played.
