Anyone step up so far, pushing for a job.
We got Jansen Harkins in Wpg making a push for a full time job.

Sounds like Eklund might be making the SJ roster (or he'll at least get a 9 game trial).
Simon Ryfors in the TB camp.
Nolan Patrick on the top PP in VGK.
One of McMichael or Lapierre is likely going to break camp with the Capitals.
The Penguins have even less forward depth than you thought they did.

Shane Pinto in Ottawa could be better than Josh Norris.

That D is deep and Coghlan is now on a one-way. Can't be sent down without going through waivers. Be hard pressed to see another dman added to the lump.

I have said this for months now. Even made a post about it in the NCAA/North American prospects section. Kid is the real deal and despite not possessing Norris' great shot, (it's still pretty damn good), he beats Norris in every other aspect of the game.

Really? I thought for sure Norris had the 1C job locked in Ottawa. Pinto looked great to end the year last season but it was such a small sample size. Does he have a chance to steal Norris' job?

In the next year or two. Absolutely. He's got a better hockey IQ. The way he mirrors a player and anticipates their next move is a thing of beauty. He's not flashy or will dazzle you with his puck handling or skating, but it's his hockey brain that is just wow... he's a very talented athlete who came into the game much later in life. Didn't start playing competitively until age 15. So as a late bloomer will continue to grow and enhance his skillset... because upstairs he maybe arguably the smartest player on the team... Even DJ said he was the best player in camp and in the practises... just watching him... how he can read break outs from the opposition and use his stick and/or body to get in the way and take away scoring lanes or even cause the team to turnover the puck and make them hurt...

Don't get me wrong, he still has a good long stride with his lanky long legs and has quite a decent shot. The way he controlled the play in the OT vs the Jets, so confident in his game, controlling the outside perimeter skating around then cutting in forcing Pierre-Luc Dubois back to fire a roofer past Eric Comrie, was a thing of beauty. Two reasons he could do that, he has the room and speed to do it. He knew PLD wouldn't probably chance a penalty and also could use that size and speed to force his man back, also using PLD as a screen on his goalie. He could have been nervous and felt the heat of a big vet on him, dish off the puck, but he held on... it's that swagger and confidence that will help him. Also every year he's matched or done better than Josh Norris in the same age.

Another thing I like is how well Shane Pinto adapts to new linemates and makes them better. He does it so well, granted it has been a small sample size. But he did so well towards the end of the season he got to play up with Jimmy and C. Brown and was instantly connected, best possession... and 6 points in 7 games. Then in rookie camp he saw great chemistry with Egor Sokolov and now has shown it with bouts with Nick Paul.

Sorry, I shouldn't make absolutes. He can and should. But that's just this poster's humble opinion based on what I observed. But there are many who agree with it. You just have to watch the two.

Nice info Eli - moving him up a little in my one main auction pool. Starting to like Sens for the future.

Jordan Kyrou has been placed with ROR + Perron and he’s on the Blues 1st PP.

Tyler Johnson has been between DeBrincat and Kane for the entire camp. He’s also on that 1st PP with the big guns

Let’s see if they stick, but interesting to know and monitor.

Thanks for the Pinto heads-up 🍻

Yeah... Tyler Johnson isn't necessarily a "surprise" as the CHI C1.
I think a veteran works well there... and Toews just isn't in hockey form after a full year off.
But - for what the OP is probably looking for... yes, Johnson should see a nice stat up-tick with his ability to be considered a C1 (in CHI) whereas he wasn't above Point, Stamkos or even Cirelli in TB.
    Good mention.

Pinto is going to quickly jump to C2 usage for OTT.
I agree, everything I see/read about him during OTT camp suggests he's fitting in great at NHL speed/pace.
