Bit of a recap: Had a plan. Fade goalies to some extent. Partly reading the Zero G material, partly drafting Andersen and Hart last year in this league (d'oh). Get some high end points and ppp guys in the first couple rounds, and then go hard D. I've found with 72 rostered D and teams moving from a 3/2 pp to a 4/1 pp contributing dmen get pretty scarce pretty quickly. Happy with the execution of the plan. Wings are a bit thin, but we’ll see how it goes.

C: Mack, Barkov, Carter (rw), Domi (lw)
LW: Hintz (c), Lee, Hertl (c), Bunting
RW: Garland (lw), Gallagher, Arvidsson (lw), Verhaeghe (lw), Kakko
D: Hamilton, Theodore, Ekblad, Pionk, Krug, Pulock, Lundkvist, Seider
    G: Petersen, Knight, Merzlikins, Raanta
    IR: Bishop

    1-3 Nathan MacKinnon C
Debated Kuch vs Mack for a bit, but in mocks and other drafts with all Yahoo's multi-eligibility there didn't seem to be the usual late C strength relative to the W. And Mack's SOG are pretty hard to ignore.

    2-22 Aleksander Barkov C
Wanted high end ppp and p, and Barkov's got legit 100 point potential this year imo. Thrilled to grab him here. Fine with two centers this year.

    3-27 Dougie Hamilton D
A bit of a reach depending on how his +/- fairs in NJ. But he was #1 on my draft list for dmen. The plan...

    4-46 Shea Theodore D
Had targeted Josi here, but I'm fine with Theodore. In hindsight I maybe should have gone Barrie for the elite ppp (no Piet lurking), but the +/- should be elite with Shea.

    5-51 Aaron Ekblad D
This is the year. Yeah his multi-cat stat-stuffing is fading a bit, but I'm bullish on sog, points, and pp. And his hit contributions won't be a detriment anyhow.

    6-70 Neal Pionk D
At this point I've got boatloads of shots, and I'm looking for a combo of hits and ppp. Pionk fits the bill nicely, and has top 10-15 dman potential in this league.

    7-75 Torey Krug D
PP1, solid plus minus, won't hurt me in hits. 5D down. (Probably should have grabbed McAvoy here)

    8-94 Roope Hintz C,LW
A bunch of similar tiered dmen remain so I'm waiting on my last dman. Still a couple of goalies in a similar tier as well. Debated Nylander, Fiala, Schenn and Hintz here. Don't need the sog that Fiala brings, and figured I'd gamble on the points upside of Hintz. Hopefully he stays healthy.

    9-99 Calvin Petersen G
Sammy went. Petersen's the only workhorse left, and with upside on an improving LA team. Earlier than I planned on taking a goalie, but not by a lot. My other mid-round target was Markstrom, who went in the fifth!

    10-118 Spencer Knight G
Probably a mistake as far as strategy goes. Certainly a gamble. But the upside is high if Bob falters. Guess I'm banking on Florida this year.

    11-123 Ryan Pulock D
Since my last pick, Risto, Weegar, OEL, Sergachev, Deangelo, Doughty, McAvoy, Chabot, Heiskanen, Burns, Klingberg and Provorov all come off the board. Thrilled with Pulock over most of those guys. Need the hits, and the pp spot is open. Maybe this is the year it all comes together?

    12-142 Conor Garland LW,RW
Points, points, points. Maybe should have gone with a safer floor guy.

    13-147 Anders Lee LW
Lots of multi-cat value here. Steal in the 13th.

    14-166 Tomas Hertl C,LW
Filling out the wings. Bit of a +/- risk, but 70 point potential and pp1 in round 14. Can’t complain.

    15-171 Brendan Gallagher RW
SOG and hits and SOG. On the third line now though, so this might be a mistake. Batherson or Norris probably would have been a better draft. McCann as well.

    16-190 Carter Verhaeghe C,LW
Realized I missed on McCann, and had him eyed up until he was sniped with the pick before mine. Went with another upside Florida guy. Stapled to Barkov.

    17-195 Viktor Arvidsson LW,RW
Happy with the sog and points potential next to Kopitar here. Maybe he even sees pp1 time. Realized after that Elvis was still available, and threw my wine glass across the room.

    18-214 Elvis Merzlikins G
Picked up my wineglass and hit draft.

    19-219 Kaapo Kakko RW
With Buch gone there’s room, and his advanced stats towards the end of the year were good. Lining up with Panarin in the pre-season. Fingers crossed.

    20-238 Jeff Carter C,RW
Needed a C, and liked his potential in the short term.

    21-243 Marco Rossi C
    Gamble (Since dropped for Domi)

    22-262 Antti Raanta G
Throwing some goalie darts. Good team, injury prone starter.

    23-267 Ben Bishop G
Ditto, except that AHL level Holtby is also in the weigh. (Not playing out how I expected so far). IR’d and picked up Nils Lundkvist.

    24-286 Michael Bunting LW
Looked great in the top 6 during pre-season. Hopefully sticks.

    25-291 Tuukka Rask G
Meant to stash him til February, but NA to open the year without a contract. Dropped him for Seider. Hopefully one of Seider and Lundkvist pans out as a 7th dman.
