Points only, who do you keep:

Backstrom and a 4th round draft pick (around 18th overall)

or

Kopitar and a 3rd round draft pick (around 8th overall)

Backstrom to Kopitar may be a slight drop in points (maybe 5 points or so), but as this is a keeper league, there is not much high end talent from which to to choose. At 8th overall, I expect a player like E Lindholm or Landeskog to be available. At 18th overall, I am looking at Marchessault or Trochek type players.

I view Kopi and Backstrom basically the same in my ratings. Easy choice.

Kopitar and Landiskog > Backstrom and Marchessault

Kopitar and the 3rd for me. This will be close but I wouldn't be surprised if Kopitar is right there with Backstrom, as you said 5, maybe less, but there's a good chance it may be more. It really doesn't matter who you think will be available in the 3rd or the 4th, it's pretty much a no brainer, the 3rd is a whole lot better than the 4th. Kopitar and Backstrom is a wash for me, take the pick upgrade.

In points-only, I would much rather have Backstrom and the Washington supporting cast. I imagine Backstrom will continue his point production while I feel there is some risk with Kopitar. While losing 10 draft spots may be a bit of a hit, a player like Marchessault may not be that much of a downgrade from someone like Lindholm, IMO.
