Round 21/22, another solid snag of Yandle by Rinks, if he mans that top PP in Philly could be a gigantic steal. Johansen was also one that I had queued but got snagged 2 picks before mine. #1 C at this point in the draft (250) is huge. I think my pick of Koskinen could be the steal of the draft and ultimately pretty proud of this pick. He had a terrible 2020/21, but from what I read online and watched on Youtube, he himself said that he really struggled being in a bubble with no family around and fans in the stands to give him the energy. With 4 goalies already taken, I’m pretty set in not having to lean on Koskinen to carry goalie stats, so if he manages to garner the #1 gig in Edmonton, he could get me some solid wins without completely destroying the GAA and SP stats and give me the luxury of support and depth. That or I hold Russ ransom to handcuff Smith… Backed up his pick with Getz in round 22. Getting into the nitty gritty now. Just looking for value and top-6 players and really focussing on the C position. I did also consider Roslovic to perhaps have a Roslovic/Laine combo, but I thought Getz’ HITs/BS production was a bit more beneficial. BN with another nice snag of Nino at pick 257 is great value, but not sure with the depth in Carolina that he can repeat a 0.61 point-per-game pace from last year?

Round 23/24, Rinks with Sharangovich at 268 is a steal. Lots of hype around him this pre-season and was going to pounce on him with one of my next 2 picks… Rask is a great stash and see how he returns later on in the year. Round 23 is a very little risk and high reward pick spent on a goalie who could come in the final months and just give BN that goalie boost down the stretch. I was trying to round out my D at this point. No more Gio in Calgary should give Andersson a bit more of an offensive role in Calgary. I think it will be a battle between him and Hanifin for the top PP gig. Followed it up with Schwartz, he’s always been a stable and reliable 55-60 point producer, decent HIT production, shoots a reasonable amount. Basically, in a top-line role with the Kraken alongside Eberle and Wennberg/McCann. Low risk pick IMO. Of course I had my usual debate on the Arizona boys of Keller/Kessel, but thought Schwartz had a bit more upside. Nice to see Keller go next pick to Rick. Vrana had a ton of hype prior to the injury news, but in the 2nd last round as a IR stash candidate could be good value when he returns later on in the year. I also dig the Chiarot pick, no more Weber and really only Petry (possibly Romanov…) as offensive tools on the blue-line in MTL, Chiarot could get a bit more of an offensive role. Zacha is also a nice value pick for Russ. Not quite sure where he slots in with the youngsters, Hughes/Hischier taking ½ C slots, so unless Zacha gets shifted to the wings, or one of the youngsters get hurt… not sure where he goes? But if he gets a top-6 role, his value will dramatic improve.

Last round, pretty much no risk with any of these picks as they’ll probably at some point end up on the ww anyway… EJ is always undervalued from a fantasy perspective. He won’t get the offensive time anymore, but should still contribute on the peripheral front. Bertuzzi is a great snag… a lot of it will come down to the vaccine situation, but landing a potential top-line guy in the last round is phenomenal. Also dig the Drouin pick! Can’t fault the Kessel pick too, but as a past Kessel owner, the frustration is a pain. Can go point-per-game for a stretch of 15 games, then go gooseeggs for the next 5 or 6… Finished the draft with Gost… potentially get a role on the top PP unit. I’m not entirely sold on Chych, or I could see Zona running a traditional 3F, 2D PP with both Gost and Chych on the back end.

Here’s my bible recap! Let’s get it started! Good luck boys!

Oh, how convenient, leave out the fact that I was in first place from Nov 20 until a few days ago, lol! Sigh, with my GP being decently higher than the guys now ahead of me, I am going to need a little push to finish on top (that's what she said!).

Convenient timing indeed, if only I did that on purpose! Ha!

Yep, it's not how you start but how you finish!
