I think I’d try to get a bit of value for Kane, and if not drop him and keep Pietrangelo.
First league in signature. Keeper decisions are due tomorrow. I was hoping more news would come out regarding Evander Kane, but nothing has. It is a 10 team keep 70 players total. GMs have a various amount of keeper spots as trading of the spots is allowed. I have 9 spots for the upcoming season.
1. Ovechkin
2. Marchand
3. Debrincat
4. JT Miller
5. Wilson
6. Fox
7. Zibanejad
8. Josi
Do I risk it and keep Evander with my last keeper spot? Many teams are only going into the year with 7 keeper spots (or less) so I am at an advantage there. My other options would probably be to keep a goalie (Talbot?). I do have a first round pick where my plan was to take the best available goalie. Evander has been a top 10-20 player in the league due to PIMs and the other categories.
Will rep!

Probably an unpopular opinion around here, but I'd keep him, he's going to be playing.

With PIM & HIT... I'm keeping Evander Kane over Alex Debrincat.
I wouldn't hesitate to Drop E. Kane.
Keep Talbot and give yourself a head start on the goalies. That will let you draft a replacement for Kane later.

Kane is definitely a top 10 maybe even top 5 player in your format I agree he is a must keep.

Agree, Kane is a must keep in your format.

I don't know, people see Hits and PIMs and assume E. Kane is an elite player. The guy had only 42 PIM last year and only 97 hits. Those are hardly elite numbers. Combined with his precarious situation and the team he plays on, I think he's being way overvalued.
That being said, you should try and cash in on that value and trade him for something interesting.
Or you can keep him and hope for a rebound to his previous levels of Hits and PIMs. Then, he'd definitely be worth the keep.
HIT, PIM, SOG --> Evander Kane is an elite player. He should pace for about 150 hits, 80PIM, 300 SOG. That's incredibly good.
What this thread reveals to me is that there's a big divide on Kane... by the numbers, he's great, but the perceived value is way down. That almost points to a shot at redrafting him as a potential opportunity.
I've heard rumblings that his teammates don't want him in the locker room, if that's true on top of the other scandal I think it's very likely he sees reduced minutes in the best case scenario and is in the press box in the worst case scenario. Maybe he gets traded, but this looks like a Tony DeAngelo/Sean Avery scenario to me, I'm staying away.

But last year, he paced for 284 SOG, 142 hits and 61 PIM. Not that far off from your numbers but that was also a career year in term of offensive output (0.88 PPG). Do we really believe that Kane will have an even better year considering the turmoil? I guess it's possible but I'm doubtful.
You're right though that there is a play that could be made around his perceived value.
I very much dislike Evander Kane.
There's no chance he's liked in the lockerroom.
He's an arrogant prick... which doesn't fit well in a sport where most of the players are humble and team-centric.
That said... Kane hasn't done anything directly offensive to his own teammates. Deangelo did.
BIG BIG difference.
SJ isn't going to reduce his minutes or scratch him for personal world issues.
If he's playing well on-ice, enough to help his team, he'll get minutes and usage for that.
If he directly pisses on a teammate or coach or the organization... that's a different matter... but he hasn't done that.
I think he'll play standard TOI as usual for SJ.
I would keep Kane. repeating what I said elsewhere:
The allegations of gambling on NHL games are troubling, but made by an estranged wife with zero confirmation to date. I doubt he misses any games and expect him to put up elite numbers.
He seems like a POS person in a lot of ways but is still a great fantasy asset in leagues such as yours.

Personally, I'm staying away from him because I can't get myself to root for him and fantasy is supposed to be about having fun. But I see no qualms in people targeting his value in fantasy. And if LawMan believes he won't miss any game, I'll take his knowledge over mine on that subject any day of the week!
A lot depends on the team and his teammates....If they reject him then so will other teams, too.
