    Default Trading Caufield

In the points league below (not the one in the sig) I am aiming to keep Caulfield who will cost an 18th round pick to keep. My other keepers are (with keeper cost in brackets):

    - Kaprizov (5th)
    - Cal Peterson (18th)
    - Kuemper (4th)
    - Hyman (10th)

Another team is very much into the Habs and into Caufield and has basically sent me an open offer of Caufield for one of the following (with keeper cost in brackets):

    - Zegras (12th)
    - Byfield (8th)
    -
    Newhook (18th)
    - Jack Campbell (18th)
    - Adam Fox (7th)
    -
    Ehlers (10th)

I am not sure I'd go for any of Zegras/Byfield/Newhook for Caufield as I think Caufield will be more valuable in this format, especially costing an 18th. Also don't think that Campbell is that much more valuable than my current goalies (though the Kuemper keep is a bit pricey at 4th). However, the Adam Fox or Ehlers angle is interesting. I have Fox pegged as maybe the 2nd/3rd Dman in this format and Ehlers is going to have good year I think. There's less long term value given Fox @7 and Ehlers @10.

    Thoughts?

I'd counter with Kuemper & Caufeld for Fox & either Campbell or Ehlers.

Hmm - I wouldn't be able to keep Hyman if I got Ehlers (both would cost a 10th rounder and hard to get a trade now). How about: Caufield, Kuemper and Hyman for Fox Campbell and Ehlers? Or is that going too far and being insulting?

If he's such a die hard Habs fan wait until the season starts and you'll get more from him.

Otherwise, Ehlers is intriguing, but I'd hold on Caufield.

Admittedly I'm a Habs fan also.

Caufield is terrific value if you are simply sacrificing an 18th round pick.
I don't think the other guy has enough value to give you.
    Just keep Caufield and enjoy.

I'm a Habs fan and I think Caufield is being slightly overvalued right now. The kid is great and I can't wait to cheer him on for the next decade (hopefully) but I don't see him as anything more than a 30-35 goals, 60-65 points player with maybe a career year in the 70s.

That being said, considering the cost value here, I agree that I would hold on to him and maybe look to trade him during the year once he's on a hot streak.

If you can't keep 2 guys with 10th round picks, how will you keep 2 guys with 18th round picks? I'd guess that you simply use a 9th/17th on one of them?

As others said, you can simply hold Caufield. (Now I have Catcher in the Rye in my brain)

This for me as well, although my opinion only, one could argue that Caulfield is significantly overvalued rather than just slightly (:

I will make a different pitch.

You offer this GM Caulfield(18th) and Hyman(10th) for Zegras(12th) and Ehlers(10th) or Fox(7th)
