Niku on unconditional waivers
The Winnipeg Jets placed defenceman Niku on unconditional waivers Monday for contract termination.
Niku, a seventh-round pick of the Jets in 2015, did not have a point in six games last season. He has one year remaining on his current contract at a cap hit of $725,000.

He wanted to be traded. I guess they couldnt find a deal so they cut him loose. Lets see if he lands in the NHL or not.

Rumours around Manitoba are that he wants to go overseas to play. So Winnipeg is terminating his contract to allow him to do that.
