Hi everyone, we're looking for participants. We are planning for 16 participants, and so far we have 5 confirmed, www.hockeydrafts.ca will be website to host the hockey pool and the draft will be done online.

The scheduled date and time is not yet confirmed. But the draft will be held some time online on either Saturday October 9 or Sunday October 10. I update this thread as more information is confirmed.

Cost $5.00 CAD per participant (Estimated or less, will confirm later). This will cover the costs of the medals and the cost to use the fantasy hockey pool website, "www.hockeydraft.ca". There are no cash awards, and no money will be made for the organizer. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place participants. They will be basic insert medals, so they won't be expensive.

Rules for this Fantasy Hockey Pool:

The object of this fantasy hockey pool is to earn as many points as possible from your team which is composed of NHL players (Forwards, defensemen and goalies). The winner of this hockey pool is the participant whose team has the highest point total at the end of the 2021/2022 NHL Regular Season. This pool does NOT include the 2021/2022 NHL Playoffs.

Your teams will be selected at the hockey pool draft. There will be NO trades after the draft or at the draft. Therefore, you will keep the same team for the entire 2021/2022 NHL Regular Season.

We are hoping to get 16 participants total for this pool.

We'll draw for the drafting order and the draft will be conducted "snake style". For example, If there are 16 participants in the draft and, if you draw the 1st pick then you'll draft 1st and 32nd, if you draw the 2nd pick, then you'll draft 2nd and 31st, if you draw the 16th pick, then you'll draft 16th and 17th, and so on.

We'll draft for 20 rounds. Therefore, each participant will have 20 NHL players (Forwards, defensemen, and goalies) on their team. This also means that a total of 320 NHL players including goalies will be drafted if we get our maximum 16 participants. So please prepare for 320 NHL players to be drafted.

Only your top 18 players' points will be counted towards your team's point total. This means that the points from your team's two players with the lowest number of points won't be counted towards your team's overall point total.

This reduces the pain of having injured players not contributing to your overall point total, or other under performing players.

On your team you MUST draft:

1) MANDATORY 2 GOALIES - You are not allowed to draft any more or any less than 2 goalies

2) MINIMUM of 2 DEFENSEMEN - You can draft more than 2 defensemen if you want, but you MUST have at least 2 defensemen

3) The rest of your players are any types of forwards - Can be any type of forward (center, left and right wing)

There will be a penalty for anyone who doesn't follow the above rules because it affects everyone else's picks afterwards if the mistake is not caught in time.

Points are earned as follows for:

Forwards and defensemen:

Goal = 1 point
Assist = 1 point

Goalies:

Win = 2 points
Win with a shutout = 3 points (Therefore a shutout by itself = 1 point)
Goal by a Goalie = 1 point
Assist by a Goalie = 1 point

Shoot out goals do not count for any points for forwards and defensemen, and overtime and shoot out losses do not count for any points for goalies.

If there's a tie, the tie will be broken by who has the higher "Points per game" statistic which is offered by www.hockeydraft.ca. This website doesn't automatically break tiebreakers so we'll need to determine that ourselves.

While drafting, you have a 35 second time limit for each round to choose your player.
It'll be the later rounds that will separate those who did their homework and those who slacked off!

This pool will be capped at 16 participants, therefore please confirm if you'll be in the pool. If we have more than 16 participants interested, then only the first 16 who confirmed will be included in the pool, so your spot in the pool is based on a first confirm, first serve basis. Anyone who confirms, but is not one of the first 16 people who confirmed will be put on the wait list.

If you can't participate in the draft during the time and date of the draft, but you still want to participate, then you can provide a player ranking list for someone else to pick on your behalf. But spots for drafting with a player ranking list are limited.

We won't provide a player ranking list for you. You'll have to provide your own player ranking list.

If you provide a player ranking list, and on your turn to select, the next player on your list is either injured or hasn't signed their contract to play this season yet, then we will move on to the next player on your list unless you specify. However, if that injured player on your list is only listed as having a "day to day" injury then we will select him instead of moving on to your next player.

YOUR PLAYER RANKING LIST AND ANY SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR DRAFTING ARE FINAL. EVEN IF YOU MADE AN OBVIOUS MISTAKE WE WILL SELECT THAT PLAYER. PLEASE, THEREFORE MAKE SURE YOUR LIST IS 100% CORRECT WHEN YOU SUBMIT IT.

However, IF YOU CATCH THE MISTAKE AND INFORM US BEFORE THE MISTAKEN PLAYER IS DRAFTED, THEN YOU CAN MAKE THE CHANGE. (For example, you realize your mistake while the draft is going on and phone someone at the draft location to correct it before the player is drafted)

An example for specific instructions for a player ranking list could be, if you want your goalies to be drafted by a certain round or by a certain number of goalies already selected by the other participants, then please state your specific instructions in your ranking list. This is so that you don't get stuck with the only other goalies left, after everyone else has already selected their mandatory two goalies.

There will be a limit to the number of player ranking lists that will be allowed. This will depend on how many people will be participating in the draft during the time of the draft.

Only one team per participant is allowed for this fantasy hockey pool.

The medals will be mailed out to the winners after the end of the 2021-2022 NHL Regular Season.

Just an update to this thread. The date of the draft for this hockey pool has been set and it will be on October 10, 2021 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time conducted online.
We now have 8 people so far, and we are still looking for 8 more to reach our goal of 16 people.

This is a deep draft with 16 participants (GMs), 20 rounds = 320 NHL players including goalies drafted! Please see the previous post for the full rules. Thanks.

Hey guys,

Just an update, we now have 9 people and so we need 7 more people to reach our goal of 16 people.
