Barzal & 7th for my 2nd ( 16th overall ) ??

Hey all

looking for an opinion ….

Offered Barzal + 7th for my 2nd ( 16th overall )

Not sure if / when Barzal becomes more than a 70 pt guy ?

I need to keep 6 , and don’t perfectly see what he would replace on my projected keeper list to make the pick drop worth it ?

any opinions if he would be an upgrade to my keepers worth the pick ?

after keepers i would do it , not before...looking at your roster you would drop either necas or fiala. Even tho i would prefer Barzal to both, the gap is not big enough to justify downgrade from 88th (if my math is right) best NHLer to about 165th best NHLer.

I think you could maybe consider dropping Fiala for Barzal. In a pts only league they're really close, although Fiala did have an edge in ppp. The Isles do have Anders Lee healthy again though and Barzal's line put up alot more points when Lee was on that line than when he wasn't.

The thing with Fiala is, which Fiala are you getting? The one from the 1st half of last year or the one from the 2nd half? I would like to believe, based on his previous season, that it's the one from the 2nd half, but he's still yet to put up a 60 pt season whereas Barzal has done that twice, was on pace to do it again last year and showed that he's capable of even more with 85 in 17-18.

I think I would rather have Barzal here. He's cemented into that top C spot and he definitely has 70+ potential because of that in my opinion.

I see Barzal as an improvement on Fiala as well. A year younger and the more proven scorer and, I don't think we have seen Barzal's best. Not knocking Fiala here, but I consider the downgrade in draft picks worth doing. Barzal has been over, or very near a 70 pt/g player 3 out of the last 4 years whereas Fiala has yet to break that barrier and has only been close once in his 5 years of full time deployment in the NHL. I don't see this changing. I'd be very inclined to accept the offer.

I do see Barzal as an upgrade over both Fiala and Necas. In a limited keeper like this, your goal should be to get the best group of 6 you possibly can. I'd probably see if you can tighten up the picks, but in any case, I'd probably do this deal anyway.

I let the other GM know I am interested / intrigued ….. but went back for his 5th pick vs 7th …..overall 51st vs 81st

I would drop Fiala before Necas, and I like the pushback to make the pick drop less painful. You could offer him Fiala as well, if you like, he might love him.

Honestly, this one could go either way. I personally think Fiala has a slightly higher offensive upside. But some guys here will surely disagree with that. Both players likely have point per game potential in the right scenario. It's pretty much a toss up to me. Fiala may frustrate early as he typically starts slow. Otherwise, in the short term, it's worth noting that Minnesota has a much better schedule than Carolina this year.

Fiala would be my drop. I'm hanging on to Necas and hoping he hits his potential.
