    Default Hertl vs Buchnevich

    Keeper league, points only.

I have plenty of depth on my RW, trying to sell some of it.

On the opposite side, I have no depth at center if any injury occured.

What about my Buchnevich vs his Hertl? Do I get enough?

    My team;
    C
    McDavid
    Draisaitl
    Malkin* (injured)
    Seguin

    Bench
    Thomas

    RW
    Kucherov
    Marner
    Bjorstrand
    Buchnevich*

    Bench
    Oshie
    Pavelski
    Duclair

I think Hertl is in an unfortunate situation, like Clayton Keller, where he should be going up but the team is going down. Buchnevich on the other hand finds himself in a fresh situation where he could see better deployment. I wouldn't have a problem dealing Buchnevich to address a positional need but I don't think Hertl is who I'd be targeting.

There are good chances that Hertl is dealt at the trade deadline before heading to free agency, so he may find himself in a great spot just in time for fantasy playoffs. It may be the right time to roll the dice on Hertl.

I like the concept. Given that you have Seguin and Draisatl who are likely C/W guys, I'd be okay with the deal, but I think you can do better.

However, I think I'd try and deal Oshie for a similar level old center to keep the upside of Buchnevich.

I thought it was a good moment to sell high on Buchnevich. He was in the best scnenario to succeed with NYR, playing with Panarin. Now he's going to play with less productive teammates while competing with Perron for PP time.

I of course agree SJ isn't going on the bright side, but all the offensive should be in Hertl's hands. Plus he's in his last contract year so should be trade somewhere else during the season...

There are concerns surrounding both these guys which have already been touched on. Bottom line, what will the numbers look like. I think there is a good chance that they are similar although I do like Buchnevich to be the better producer but the difference will likely not be huge but I expect a difference. To meet a positional requirement this is a just OK deal, not great for sure, but it does give you the depth at C that you need. That said I did vote be patient, I think you can do a bit better.
