Zegras vs Heiskanen + 1st and 3rd

Would you accept this deal, receive Zegras vs Heiskanen, 1st and 3rd round picks?

That would allow to keep Ekman-Larsson in the lineup, while Zegras doesn't need protection prior to our draft, because he has less than 150 games.

I feel it is expansive, but Zegras is a special player and his cost might just go up in the future.

There is lots of info missing here but assuming it’s 2022 pick, I would do it only if it’s a puck outside top 5…. If it’s 2021 pick I’m doing this no matter what.

Hmm this is a tough one for me, as I love Zegras. But I way rather have Heiskanen than OEL on my backend.. I still think Heiskanen can be the player that put up 26 points in 27 games like he did during the 2019-20 playoff run (he's only 22). Klingburg has one more year on his deal, and If he leaves, then it's Heiskanen's pp1. It'd be one thing if this was a cap pool where Heiskanen just signed a big deal, but since it's not, I'm probably not adding to Heiskenen to get Zegras. Also, it looks like Heiskanen is your best dman.

I'd try find another way to get Zegras if possible and I wouldn't add picks.. one for one maybe but I wouldn't be adding to Heiskanen, myself.

I also agree with mdratch on this, Zegras is nice but this seems like an awfully steep price to me, especially since quality dmen are harder to come by. If this were Zegras for Heiskanen straight up I might still be pondering it, I would expect something more coming back to you as I think you might be greatly undervalueing Heiskanen.

And the other way to get Zegras is to give Matthews, which is definitely a big no.

Can we see your 12 keepers... the fact that the top 120 players will not be available in the draft is important. I also think Heiskanen has a major gear to step into (the one we've already been teased with). So let's say he really clicks with Seguin (and I think he does)... now you got a 22 year old 60 pt dman.

Really depends on who you can bring in as a replacement for Heiskanen and who you'd get with that 1st pick you're giving up for him. Points only i dont love the idea of trading Heiskanen still young with a ton of upside might be selling low at this point.

if you're bringing Ellis or another power play D man and whoever the 1st would be isn't relevant then i'd do it as Zegras + Ellis is better then just Heiskanen imo.

That seems like a team that's ready to compete now. As such, I don't see how Zegras makes that much sense for you given Anaheim is a long ways away from being competitive. Heiskanen is going to get you comparable or better numbers over the next 2 years and potentially more after that as defenseman that's puts up 60ish. You would need Zegras to be hitting close to 80 to make that deal worth it for you.
