Between this and Couturier's pay raises, wonder if this is the start of a "is Giroux sticking around" narative.

Solid number on him... he has shown all the tools to be a good line 2 winger.
$5m is about going rate on good line 2 winger.
re: Giroux. I actually wonder a bit if PHI can sign him for two contracts.
I'm not sure if this is done.
Like, on July 1st 2022, they could sign him for a 1-year contract for 22-23 for $3m (say).
And then, since he's on "final year", they could immediately sign him to a 5-year contract for 23-beyond for say $6m per.
Reason I say this... JVR is on the books for 2022-2023.. and that makes it hard for PHI to have cap space... but just through 2023.
Once JVR is off the books, PHI has more money to give to Giroux.
So it's possible they split the cap hits... and end up giving him something that works out to $33m/6years... but in a two-contract manner.
Again - not sure if that's ever been done.
It would not be in Giroux's best interest to sign anything BUT a long-contract (for injury/security).
But if two contracts are presented... maybe that works out.
(If that can be done. I've never seen it before, so I would think there is some verbage against it).
Recent language btw. PHI and Giroux suggest they'll work something out AFTER this season.
This makes me think that maybe they have a gentleman's handshake agreement in place to work it out in some clever fashion.
It just doesn't see appropriate for both parties to be mutually agreeable to make the face of the franchise wait on uncertainty.
PHI cap layout - one will see how PHI doesn't have cap space in 2022-23 (w/JVR at $7m... but will as soon as he is UFA and left to go).

I like Farabee and like this deal a lot. He's going to be a top 6 fixture on that team for a while.
assuming he is what he was last year or improves on it its great deal for Philly. I do think they got discount based on small sample size. I dont think its a big chance, but there is a chance he regresses again, based on small sample size. if he becomes 3rd line guy this wont look so good but i like a gamble in this case.

I love this deal for Philly! Smart move
Now hopefully he takes a huge step forward this year and fills the net!
Come on Flyers!!

Sigh, in my salary cap league, I really like Farabee at $925K...hopefully, he can have a great year to justify me keeping him as one of my (25) keepers. It will come down to value as I am always up against the cap.
