No, they wouldn't. It just happened. And it's really none of our business.

Whether it's our business or not, it will come out. Just wait for it.

If it's physically or mentally related to his hockey career, then it's important for the NHL and its players to know in order to learn and improve supports for the next generation of players. If not, then I agree with you.

This is what I was thinking. It is horribly sad news no matter what. However, if it turns out that Hayes suffered from some condition directly related or caused by his career, the NHL needs to be aware of this and held to some sort of accountability. We hear too often of professional athletes who suffer from mental illness or, for example, concussion-related symptoms long after their career is over.

My point is we all feel we need an answer right away. I am just saying let the family grieve first... this is huge for someone to pass away at this age. I know guys in my game worn jersey group that try and capitalize on the death of players by jacking up the price of their jerseys... happened during Colby's passing.

Yes, it will come out probably, eventually, but right now that shouldn't be the focus.

No one here is bothering Hayes' family or capitalizing on his death. We are just wondering if his passing has anything to do with his NHL, similar to what has happened in the past with so many professional athletes who seemingly get ignored after their playing career is over despite having continued physical and/or mental issues.

Obviously it is none of our business, but if it turns out that it is related to his playing in the NHL, I hope the NHL takes note and does better by future ex-players.

Oh for sure, if it's concussion related.

btw I am also in that place I lost 3 family members in the past year, so death is also a touchy subject for me.
