His season has been lackluster for sure. His shooting percentage is way down, as is his SOG too so there's definitely room for improvement. Stevie invested a lot in him so he'll get his chances to find his way.

Just my personal opinion but from the moment Stevie signed him... I think "points-production" was secondary on the list of his importance.

IMHO, he's an ideal "bridge" for the young C's in DET taking the pressure off in their developing years and then being able to slide down the lineup when they're ready for more responsibility.

As far as fantasy goes - my biggest attraction is that he's got multi-position eligibility and should be a decent streamer/depth piece for the next year or two. When he's cold - he's not rosterable. When he's hot - he is. Like so many others.

If you league has FOWs, this is a big bonus, getting FOWs from the wing.

re: Copp & signing with DET.

Copp was a JR at U-Michigan when Larkin was a freshman.

I think Stevie Y is a big fan of the "lockerroom"... and sometimes guys stay/sign for the other guys in the room.
Part of the TB success was that guys were all willing to take lesser because it was a fun place to be - and other leaders took less.
I'd bet Copp was itching to get back to Michigan - and Stevie Y knew it was good for the room & team.

So Copp is a center to bridge to newer kids, but also a good face, and local guy (U-M, as well as being born & growing-up in Michigan).

What's really interesting - at this point, IMO - is that Dylan Larkin still hasn't extended with Detroit...
I would've thought that would be done by now.

With Robert Thomas & Tim Stuetzle getting 8x$8m deals... I'd have to think Larkin is wanting/expecting 8x$8m+.
    Tick tock...
