Default [Signing] Tomas Tatar - NJD

I like this for NJD. Tatar is an underrated scorer. Not sure why the Habs couldnt make it work, especially in the playoffs, but they lose a good scorer.

He's now the oldest forward on the Devils by nearly 5 years

Devils seem like they might be able to fight for a playoff spot this year! I'm thinking Hughes has a breakout and breaks 60+

Interesting that Tatar will make the exact same AAV than Mike Hoffman, who basically replaces him in Montreal but for an extra year.
I like the fit in NJ though, he should have some opportunities to prove himself.

They are almost polar opposites. Tatar scores really well 5on5 but not as much on the PP. Hoffman is a beast on the PP, but doesnt score much 5on5. Will be interesting to see how this works out for both.

In addition to the 5 on 5, if he can make the NJ PP work (the operative word being "if") then this is more than a Solid Buy for NJ.

He should get his usual 20-25 goals. Used right he could net over 30G. Not a bad deal for NJ. Hopefully Holtz doesn’t get affected too much by this.

Yep I kind of like it. Worst case is he's deadline fodder if they aren't in the hunt.

I think Holtz is at best a mid-season call up next year. I don't think this signing affects this either way.

I agree. Hughes and Co definitely need another top 6 winger or two and Tatar will fit in nicely. Holtz will get a cup of coffee this year but needs more time. A 2-year contract is a nice deal for the Devils. As a Tatar owner and fan of the Devils, I am a big fan of this signing.
