Does Brandt Clarke play in the OHL next season or can he turn pro?

Yes to both. He can turn pro if he wants but he's also eligible to return to the OHL if the Kings don't think he's ready, which I assume will happen.

He’ll play in the OHL. No one from this year’s draft is NHL ready.

My guess would be that L.A gives him another year! He didn't get a full year to dominate Juniors last season, which could be good for him. I think it's more likely he jumps in next year, but weirder things have happened and he's an extremely intelligent player who has played against men.

LA held back their prospects last year for most of the season. He isn't exactly first in line to make the team this year imo.

there is plenty of prospects in history of NHL that are ready but are not played by their clubs for different reasons….mostly free agency related reasons but not exclusively.

Damn.. this sounds pretty condescending, no? Plenty of prospects are ready, while a team decides not to rush them. You don't think Petey could have jumped in while he was lighting up the SHL d+1? Or Makar play the whole season in the show instead of making a lateseason debut and lighting it up?

I’m assuming our OP is wondering if Clarke has fantasy relevance this year as this is a fantasy hockey forum. If a player isn’t playing in the NHL they don’t do you any good regardless of where you think their readiness stands. This draft class did not feature anyone I saw ready to make the jump immediately to the NHL, including Clarke. So for the purpose of this post the answer no, he’s not ready. Perhaps Russian Rocket can clarify the question is he’s looking for something more here. Otherwise you guys can feel free to file a hurt feelings report with the touchy feely Dept anytime you like.

I suppose I was wondering if Clarke was more likely to play in the OHL or the AHL next season.
Just trying to gauge if I should target Clarke this upcoming fantasy draft, or possibly wait on him for one season.
Comments on NHL-readiness are also welcome.

I don't know what your league set-up is but I'd be inclined to wait at least year unless you have a really big prospect pool set-up.

We have a farm system of 3 players that we can stash up until 23 years of age or 82 GP for skaters.
I'll be freeing up one of my spots so I'll likely target some other skaters first...ones whose development may be a little further along.
