Trade review - Scheifele + Stone vs Wallstedt + Eklund + Clarke +

Just made this trade in my league: Received Scheifele + Stone for my Wallstedt + Eklund + Clarke + 2022 2nd

Figure this should majorly boost my chances next season (finished 2nd in our playoffs last year), but it cost me a large amount of my future and my team probably has an average age over 30 at this point. Arguably Wallstedt is a top 3 goalie prospect, Eklund a top 10 forward, and Clarke a top 5 defense. So the question is whether it was too much or not?

you recieved a number 1 center with top pp minutes, a number 1 winger with top pp minutes and gave up a goalie who may or may not amount to something, a forward you can hope to even hit stone level, and a dman with potential who may or may not run a pp , the 2022 2nd whatever

honestly horrible trade for the other gm, complete robbery on your part.

That's a good point. I've gone by this philosophy for a while and this was the first time in a while where I had a significant draft (Came away with 8 of my top 20) and I suppose it just felt bad to immediately sell the farm after finally having a farm to sell for the first time in quite a while.

Also in the context of this league, it's definitely true where people focus a lot on youth. For example some past trades in a similar train:

Seguin for Cirelli + Batherson
Provorov + 3 2nds for Tolvanen + 1st
Point for 2 1sts + Harley + Mercer
Lindholm + Ekman-Larsson for Wahlstrom + Tolvanen + handful of B prospects
