Evander Kane is now under a separate NHL investigation for unrelated allegations of potential wrongdoing that were brought to the league's attention.

(And this goes along with the "Where there's smoke..."... a guy like Kane is getting into stuff a bit beyond the line... once investigations are opened up... other stuff might be found.)

I wasn't worried about his position with the Sharks yesterday.
I am worried today...
Starting to think the NHL found something new... (drugs maybe?... if it can burn Mike Richards... it can burn Evander Kane...)


I would think the Sharks would still invite him to camp if he's cleared of the betting.
Marriage stuff... meh...
But if the NHL did an investigation on the betting (with casinos and stuff)...
And if they found something else...
And if that was conveyed to SJ...

The "unrelated" part could just be directed at the gambling and they are investigating the sexual assault and domestic violence allegations brought up under the restraining order documents that were submitted during the divorce files by his estranged wife.

The league needs to look at the allegations seriously because of the social climate (and the seriousness of it).

But cleared of one thing, and another issue comes up. Issues will keep happening.

This... appears to be a NEW concern - especially for fantasy hockey owners of E.Kane.

^It's this bolded part that is concerning (IMO) towards Evander's coming season and role with club.
"Potentially jeopardizing the health and safety of Club members". These are strong, strong words.
[Article linked above mentions interviews with SJ players. I'm wondering if they had a collected voice and whether Kane's been bringing anything illegal into the lockerroom or public team rooms. This is my speculation. If the SJ players want him out and several can say "Sometimes Evander would bring XXXXXX onto the team bus, into the team hotel general room, into the lockerroom"... that could toast him... even if it's something many players do from time-to-time.]

Ah good catch. Could be anything since they've left it pretty open. Could be the physical violence towards A.Kane that they've decided was enough to warrant an investigation citing they think he's a dangerous human to be around for anyone, or could be more to it.

Or...could be his presence could put people at risk because of money owed to bad people....Team security doesn't get paid to stop bad people from physically hurting a player (but this isn't a movie so I doubt it's actually this).

To me that "jeopardizing the health and safety of club members" could be the league is investigating physical violence issues, or maybe the league found that the gambling issues brought up potential to have bad ppl show up to the arena looking to collect. It really could be anything. Hopefully that investigation is wrapped up in the next 2 weeks so it doesn't loom over the team during the season.

2 separate things about the article. First I found this super interesting in relation to the investigation over betting on his own games:

"While Mr. Kane denied the accusations, our findings are not based on these denials but instead on other evidence uncovered during the investigation.

The investigators analyzed relevant gambling information provided by Sportradar, a leader in the fields of sports data collection and analysis.

"We requested and received from Sportradar bet monitoring reports and analyses on Sharks games from the latter part of the 2018-19 season, including the 2019 Playoffs, and the 2020-2021 season."

It sounds like the investigators reviewed all betting on Sharks games looking for anomalies, looking for large or a lot of bets against the Sharks, which would indicate a fix was in, and did not find anything. Semi-related U of San Diego basketball had a point shaving scandal in basketball in the early 2010s and the way it was uncovered initially was abnormal betting patterns, that is certain games saw a lot of money bet against USD (vs. the spread).

This is the quote about further investigations, I agree it sounds bad:

The first one, is likely, an investigation into the allegations that Evander hit Anna Kane. It's worth noting that earlier this year Evander got a restraining order against Anna, alleging that she hit him. Sounds like they had a horrible relationship, this might result in some sort of suspension.
The second quote is so incredibly vague it could be almost anything... "potentially jeopardizing the health and safety of Club members". The fact that it is so vague concerns me to be honest.

Could just be the team seeing an opportunity to keep him away from the team during the whole "Kane ordeal"

It's very likely not just that. The issue is once an investigation gets to this level, the crapstorm has massive unintended effects. I was once a person of interest as someone to get a statement from in a grand jury investigation that involved multiple people being charged with various offenses, and a number of other people, including me, being accused of things by someone who was, at the time this happened, related to me. People that I was friendly with at the time cut contact because of this mess, including a couple getting married who decided to disinvite all coworkers from their wedding to avoid any drama. Things snowball and badly.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane was cleared by the NHL for gambling on league games but is now under investigation for actions to Ms. Kane as well as NHL COVID protocol violations.
Kane, the NHL, NHLPA and the Sharks would not comment. It’s not known when the investigations could be complete. Kane is not attending the Sharks training camp.
