    Default Question about uniforms

Something I've always wondered is why do players wear undershirts with only one sleeve.

    Anyone?

My guess is a compression sleeve on the throwing arm. Keeps arm warm after warm up and reduces elbow strain.
    Just a thought.

That's not his throwing arm. But I think you're right about the compression sleeve.

Hard to say who does what, but from a performance perspective, I think some players may wear the compression sleeve if they are dealing with (or trying to prevent) muscle or tendinitis issues. In baseball, for example, those issues could be on the non-throwing arm if, say, the player throws and bats righty -- can be a lot of torque on the elbow of the lower hand on the bat, which goes from bent to straight with a lot of power every swing.

The style aspect is also definitely a thing. First player that leaps to my mind who did that is Allen Iverson. Think it started for injury reasons for him, but then continued as a style thing.

Are you sure this photo hasn’t been superimposed ? I commented initially that it could be a compression sleeve on his throwing arm. Photo shows left arm. I just watched some Bichette highlights and he wears it on his right arm, his throwing arm.

I watch a LOT of Jays games. He definitely wears it on his glove arm, as do a lot of other players.

i ''Googled'' the question, here is one answer :

''The main reason that baseball players wear compression sleeves is to prevent an injury to their throwing arm. The compression sleeves “compress” the biceps, triceps, and deltoid muscles which leads to better circulation in the player's arm''

Bo will wear the one sleeve on either arm. It's likely just superstition/fashion or he's got a sore arm and wears the one sleeve on that arm. I say superstition because he likely switches arms if he's in a rut and that is a thing to mix it up

If you google Bo, you see it's mostly on his throwing arm tho.

Sure, I get that, but I see them wearing the one sleeve on their catching arm as often as their throwing arm just as the picture I attached earlier shows so that doesnt' quite explain my initial question.

Something else that I'll put out there. Bo is a big Jeter fan. Duh. But Jeter started doing it near kind of the end of his career. He did it as a way to put a bit of a barrier between his skin and the padding he'd have on his lead arm while hitting.

That would explain the use of the arm sleeve on the non-throwing arms. If it's a SS, they all mimic Jeter, and to put something between the skin and the padding of an elbow guard.

Another thing is, most SS will dive for balls, and their glove arm is usually the first arm hitting the ground, it'll help with scrapes and what not from the dirt. And it's 1 sleeve and not both because it's hot out.
