I'm drinking the Boqvist koolaid. Hasn't Hronek reached his ceiling in Detroit, reaching around 0.5p/g while being on PP1? It's not terrible, but I think there's plenty of risk he'll be dislodged in the upcoming years. Boqvist got nearly 0.5p/g as a 20 yo. Even if there's risk involved in Columbus, I think the upside is worth it. Hronek is likely replaceable, Boqvist might not be. Depends on if the gamble is worth it though. Hronek ofc is the safer bet for next year.

wasnt very clear who you were talking about (assumed Boqvist) but both those youngsters were traded once- to CBJ. I heared no issues with Boqvist and in fact they liked him but they were getting Jones so you need to give. Fact that CBJ asked for him for Jones and for 2 Nd for Bean gives you idea who will get a chance to shine first.
I don’t know right away but long term I also like Boqvist by fair margin.

Hronek was forced into taking main defensive role as well which definitely impacted his production. He is indeed a more offensive oriented Dmen, with Leddy (LD) and Seider (defensive first minded) Hronek will be able to focus on what he does best. Detroit PP will improve because he can’t be worse.
All in all, I think Hronek can be close to 50pts+ this season. Beyond that… picture is blurry. If he rocks, he cement himself as the top offensive D. If not, Detroit will look gradually for other options.
As for Boqvist, who is I could agree the more talented Dmen, will for sure be behind Werenski.
So to me, the choice is Hronek for this year. And if it turns out well… could be a great option for years to come. Yyzerman is improving Detroit in an interview way.
