    Default Ty Smith

I was SO excited to see what he would do next season. The Hamilton signing really hurts him in terms of what type of deployment he’ll get. Any advice on what I should do with him now?

In a 12-team league like yours (and mine, btw), I don't think Smith is a keeper any longer. Sucks for sure. I was also looking forward to seeing what he could do next year after a really good rookie season. Now he is blocked by Hamilton so he won't have the opportunity to do anything.

    Just traded him for Lundell.

Pump the brakes on Ty Smith everyone. His stock definitely took a hit with the Hamilton signing, but if you can stash him on your farm then he'll be useful to you at some point. He may wind up being similar to Sam Girard, maybe he gets traded next year, lots of unknowns. Dump him now at your peril. In two years you'd wish you had not. I've got three farm spots in a 13 team dynasty league, and after last season he's claimed a spot.

sure, that may be true, but in a 12 team league in which you can only protect 9 players (which is the OP's league, and mine), Smith is no longer a keeper.

If someone can stash him in the farm for a few years, it may be worth taking a flyer on him.

Personally, I think the OP did really well getting Lundell. I much prefer his chances of being fantasy worthy sooner than Smith.

I'm not throwing in the towel on Ty, but that's not a bad return. Ironically, I'm wondering if the other guy moved Lundell for the same reason you moved Smith? Florida has done a pretty good job at improving up front with Bennett, Reinhart and Verhaeghe now all solidly in the fold. Lundell may have to wait and Denisenko's path to a roster spot got more difficult as well.

theres a universe where NJ runs 2 dmen on their top pp unit. there is also a universe (not necessarily the same one) where both hamilton and ty smith put up 40+ pts each once the young scorers like hughes mature.

i wouldnt dump ty smith for cheap but definitely expectations should be reserved for the next few years.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
