This would look like a lot better deal if the total contract was 4.9M for an average of 816K.
But 4.9 per year... yikes!

I think they’ll put him on the 2nd line with Monahan to add speed and puck tenacity. Moves Dube to the 3rd line which doesn’t help him but boosts the overall top 9 strength.

I’m told Blake Coleman’s six-year deal in Calgary will carry a full no-move clause for the first three years, and a modified no-trade for the final three years.

I get your point, but Coleman is a different player. For one he’s a burner, whereas Brouwer was one of the slowest players in the league. Coleman also drove his own line, albeit a third line, and Brouwer definitely never did that. Coleman adds speed and physicality to the top 6/9 and will make them more difficult to play against, which is an element the Flames lost in recent years.

Its still better than the Hyman contract, but on the other hand he shoots left like everyone else on the team.
