I dont expect a big uptick either, but if he can stick at that pace, I'd be more than happy. He doesn't need to be the scorer on that line. He's the grit/grind guy and always has been when he's played with other stud players. It's all about health for him.

Might be my sad Leaf brain saying this (especially since I have a signed Hyman jersey) but I say he kinda disappoints in fantasy to what people could be setting him up for.
As for the Oilers in general, he'll do well. He's a PK, 5on5 guy. High motor. The fans will enjoy him. When he gets injured he comes back a new man it seems. But Hyman is getting set up to be over drafted in fantasy to what could be a disappointing season.
To me, this is a deal that works for 3yrs, the final 4 yrs are going to be tough.

God was I wrong here lol. This might go down as one of the best free agent signings ever. And likely the biggest blunder the Leafs have ever had as an organization. I happily got this wrong too LOL! Well, the uptick in numbers part. He's still an excellent real life player, only a better fantasy one that I was expecting
Agreed that so far, this has been one of the best FA signings of all time. What a bargain. Many will say "it's because he's playing with McDavid" but there's been plenty who have been with McDavid who have yet to perform to this level.

Yes, it's a good thing we had our own thread saying how great it was they finally got a quality caliber player to play with McDavid and that we should see him (Hyman) really pop off!
