Exactly. The Leafs knew they were not keeping him and that Edmonton was signing him. Why not get something for him if the Oilers were offering.

It does depend really what the picks were, and the Leafs might have thought, "helping out a team isn't worth less than a 3rd". I would have accepted almost anything, but maybe they thought it wasn't worth it.

I wonder if they entertained Khaira for Hyman, just rights straight up. Would have at least gotten something earlier. Oh well.

I think if he stays on CMD’s wing and gets that 4th pp1 spot then it would be an upgrade. Although he was frequently with Matthews and marner last year, he was bumped all over the place throughout the season and pp2 usually too.

I think if he stays on CMDÂ’s wing and gets that 4th pp1 spot then it would be an upgrade. Although he was frequently with Matthews and marner last year, he was bumped all over the place throughout the season and pp2 usually too.

Hyman would be in tough to get PP1 minutes, and the only spot it would work for him is net front presence, though he may be perfect for that role but I'm not really sure. Poolparty probably has the inside track for playing in front of the net on PP1

Not massively, but he is going from playing with an “elite” player to the “the best player in the world”. There’s no denying it’s a step up.

However, how many players have we seen attempted with Crosby over the years that didn’t work out?

Pondering an increase in production in this move is still a fair question to ask though.

Fair. The post was posed as a “production increase”. If 60 points are just his pace, cool. I don’t see a big uptick here.
