yeah, Fox is probably the better all-around defender. This will be a debate we (fans) will have the pleasure of considering for the next 15 years. Makar and Fox are clearly in a league of their own right now (no offense meant to Heiskanen, Dahlin, Seider, Chabot, Hughes, etc.).

Fox plays more of a traditional style of defense, whereas Makar's defense is more about puck possession (when he's on the ice, he controls the play). In terms of "impact" on the game, Fox may be the better all-around dman, but when Makar is on the ice, the opposition is on their heals almost the entire time.

Makar is like Karlsson in his prime, and there were many back then who didn't think Karlsson was a very good "defender". I don't necessarily disagree, but he was so good at puck possession that he didn't really need to play much defense.

The only concern I have with Makar is that his game may not age well if he starts to suffer from injuries (like Karlsson) that slow him down and prevent him from being so dynamic. Fox's game is better-suited to longevity.

Either way, we are truly spoiled to have these two great players in the game.
