Montreal drafts Logan Mailloux in 1st round

Of all the moves and decisions that were made yesterday ranging from terrible to risky to woo picks, this has to be the worst one of the day by far.

No they aren't. Drafting him is not the same as excusing him of the incident.

I agree with what a few others said before me. IMO, the kid should not have been drafted this year. Yes it was a mistake, but as others have said, one needs to earn that second chance. A written statement and a few days is not enough to show this. Let him do him and, if he has an irreproachable year, then consider drafting him.

The kid should have been left to ask for help, not have it imposed to him by a hockey team. Now he's exposed to a few things, all bad :

1- Maybe he really does learn from his mistake, but there is constant suspicion that the team is covering up for him.

2- Maybe he doesn't learn from this mistake and the team really does cover for him.

3- Maybe he doesn't learn from his mistake and when some young lady tries to accuse him, everyone thinks she's just making this up to frame him, using his past mistake.

4- Maybe he really does learn from his mistake, but some young lady tries to frame him, using his past mistake.

The point is, whatever happens now, there is a good probability that there will always be doubt as to his true character and there will always be people out to try and take advantage of that.

This, and the aforementionned fact that one needs the time to earn a second chance, are the main reasons why I think he should not have been drafted at all this year.

So obviously he is still thinking about it and reflect/changing his tune. Or faking it, but it's impossibly to know either way.
Afaik no one put him up to putting out that statement. That was his doing.

Of all the draft picks Logan is the one that needs education/support the most. He's already down, better to work on standing him back up then keep kicking. The Habs need to follow up (this is the key here) with their statement of providing him the tools to grow, and also commitment to raising awareness. Can't just sweep it under the rug, so time will tell how this evolves and how I will actually feel.
EDIT: More importantly Logan also has to learn/grow from this and actively work to 'redeem himself'.

Why to just draft him anyway? What difference does that make? OH now Logan get's to really celebrate being drafted! Nah **** that, He doesn't get that. Sorry / not sorry.

Maybe Logan releasing that statement made the difference. Without out - he goes undrafted. MB saw an individual willing to change and decided to take a chance and support him. They also interview them too.

I try to not jinx myself when I talk, but after I submitted this I was like wow I probably just jinxed this into happening.
