    Default is Makar worth it

    I have been offered;

    My: Lafreniere and the second overall pick

    for

    His: Caufeild and the first overall pick

    Should i make this trade as it would ensure I get to draft Makar as opposed to whoever i would take at 2 (Debrincat, Svechnikov, Zibanejad, Stone, Guentzel). Or is it to risky with Laf possibly having a breakout year and a higher ceiling then Caufield?

    I have no idea really. He has expressed interest in Makar but has also mentioned he likes Debrincat. I dont really have a read and dont think he has decided yet.

    It's a tempting offer, but it feels like a sell high/buy low on his end. I'd keep Laffy & the chance to either get Makar or some other stud. But can see both sides making sense, for sure.

    This really boils down to what your team needs the most. I am not a happy camper moving Laf for Caulfield, that's a step back in my opinion. However, it appears that your biggest need is an upgrade or an additional quality keeper on the blue line. If Makar is available as you say with that 1st overall, then you have addressed that need, and while you take a step back losing Laf it's not like you are replacing him with a pylon and your D core looks much better. However, I'm curious as to what other defencemen are available in the draft other than Makar as you only list forwards? That's an important bit of information. I think we need a clearer picture of what's involved there. I don't mind this deal but perhaps there is a better way to move forward.

    It just boils down to making sure i get makar. If i dont get him there is plenty of talent at 2 that i've already mentioned. i have three second round picks which i could likely use to get one of the other D of Hughes, Nurse, Theodore, heiskanen and chabot. I just was curious more if caufield or Laf are going to have a better year.

    im assuming its not the league in your sig. How many do you keep? what are the stats....if its multicat league to me Zib is much better option than Makar and if its low keeper league i would not worry about the age...

    I guess it depends on the keeper length rules, but I prefer Laf+2nd overall and taking either Svech or Makar.

    I would keep Laf and hope Makar is there. But I’m a huge fan of Makar and he could sure help your D. It’s a tough one. If you want to guarantee you get Makar then go for it.

    ^^^ Don't listen to this guy. But yeah, he has a point, but rather see what Laf becomes. But in all fairness to Caufield he should be special. So maybe listen to Feenom. But only this one time. Otherwise ignore him. :P

    Lol, ^^ I'd listen to this guy. I can't remember many things I say over the course of my day.....if I do they don't make any sense anyways.
