    Default Heiskanen cap league

Was wondering what your thoughts on him were at 8.45 million?
We've seen what he can do in the bubble but hasn't translated to the regular season yet.
Guy in my league is selling him really cheap because of cap issues.

If he can turn out to be like Hedman and breakout offensively he'd be worth the 8.45. Hedman had some low offensive numbers in his first years. Should I bite the bullet and take the cap?

D stats are worth 2 per goal, 1 per assist and .33 per blocked shot.

    League in sig

    What's cheap in this league?
Has this GM given any indication of what they are looking for?
Like would Wahlstrom, Forsberg, Lundkvist open talks between you too?

The definition of cheap in this league varies.

He's in a rebuild so young/cheap players (prospects) of wich I have plenty. Although he's shown interest in Bergeron, Forsberg, Mitchell, Broberg and Grezlyck in the past.

I know he'd be willing to pay up if Bergeron was in a deal. He's weaker up front and in nets. So I could take advantage and maybe add on a pick coming my way.

His value should be similar to Chabot from the last few years, but with a better +/-

Bergeron is an option to consider. Especially if you believe that you could also get a pick coming back to you.
You could see Bergeron traded and I don't believe that would hurt your forward group.

Is he worth the 8.45 cap hit though?

That's what you need to decide.
If you believe he can be mid 50's pts or better going forward, then it could be yes.

Traded him before the deal. Good thing I did.

Would you rather have Jones at 9.5 or Heiskanen at 8.45 in a points only format that leans heavily in Defence scoring?? Everything is relative (:

I'm also a Heiskanen owner, and am weighing my options. The big question I believe is what the Stars plans are for Klingberg. I don't think they gave Heiskanen a contract like that only to maintain the current status quo on the back end. If Klingberg is moved and the keys are handed singularly to Heiskanen then this contract should have good value, I believe Heiskanen can be elite particularly in a scoring format like yours. But, when will that happen? Until Heiskanen is clearly the number one guy and logging big minutes, the new contract could be a tough pill to swallow. I am inclined to think that there may be a little short term pain but long term gain. Personally, I want to roster Heiskanaen and I'm looking hard at how I can manage the cap to do that. Maybe you want to look at this the same way.
