Definitely not a fake leak. There were probably dozens of people watching the filming and they all had cell phones that they were politely told not to use. Someone dropped the ball by not securing the filming set better but they certainly didn't intend for this.

And frankly I think it's not a fake leak because nobody outside of serious hockey fans really cares about the Expansion Draft so there's simply no reason for it. The only people reacting to this are hockey diehards and Leafs fans, and Seattle (and the NHL for that matter) have no incentive to pull a stunt to build anticipation with arguably the most loyal market the sport has.

Also do not buy that the "5 other takes" response from Seattle implies that those other takes used other names. They definitely had numerous takes but I would bet every single one of them said "Kerfoot". We shall see.

If you do believe this is some elaborate stunt to break the internet, i think you have too much time on your hands (or you live in Toronto)

Don't forget - the NHL is maybe the most bushleague professional sports organization in North America. Of course it was a mistake.

So they filmed at Pikes Place...an “unsecured” location and politely asked people (this is the American Public we’re talking about) not to film it? Yep, totally not intentional. Way to set the record straight.
