Default Raymond vs. 2021 Draft Class.

I have first pick in my league’s prospect draft. I’ve had an offer of Lucas Raymond in exchange for the guy I pick first overall in the prospect draft. I’d just pick whoever he wanted and flip him for Raymond. Thoughts on Raymond’s upside and future role in Detroit?

    D: Drysdale, Guhle, Perunovich

I would pick raymond 1st overall this year. He has significantly more upside then all forwards in this draft.

Honestly, I would take several of the 2020 NHL Draft's top 10 picks over any player in this year's draft....

Only guys I may not take over the 2021 Draft class is Sanderson, Quinn, and Holtz.

I'm just not sold on Holtz, sorry guys. I like Powers too much. Like Sanderson, but yeah, I prefer Powers. His size and the eye-test just has me liking him more.

    Quinn was taken too early.

    Agreed

I picked him 4th last year and would not take the #1 pick for him.

Crazy how much people look down on this draft year. Could this be another 1996 or 1999 minus the Sedin twins? People should look at those draft years. WOOF!

It's funny how this draft looks like some of the worst and last year's draft is up there with the 1979, 2003, and 2015 Drafts.

It's not so much that people look down on this draft, it's because D heavy drafts like this one usually aren't great for fantasy hockey teams because D usually take longer to develop. I'm sure there will be lots of very good NHL assets come out if this draft, but for fantasy purposes, not as good or it will take longer to find out.

Personally, I'd have no issues trading that 1st overall for Lucas Raymond.

Unless you are desperate for a prospect D, then absolutely, Raymond is a better option than this years crop of forwards IMO.

    I agree w/others.
The top of this 2021 draft class seems like maybe 70-80pt range forwards... in their prime.
And that's where I'd peg Raymond - who fits in very nicely with a DET core that will emerge into their primes together.

    Raymond for me as well.
