I love these threads too.
The 24-team WHL starts our 5-round prospect draft (first two rounds are mostly 2021 draftees) on August 3rd.
Excited for that, given I own the 3rd/11th/16th/18th picks!
This is always my favorite thread of the year. I do my best to input every draft I see and kick out as much info as I can back. I like to give out prospect and leftovers ADP as well as their High and Low selection. I’ve received three so far but most prospect drafts obviously occur after the NHL’s. So if you’ve had your prospect draft, please post your results here!
If the mods would sticky this thread and move it to the correct place (I made a boo boo), it’d be much appreciated. I know I’m not the only one obsessed with Dynasty/Keeper prospect drafts. Happy drafting y’all!

Pretty unique league set-up - 6 teams, drafting 10 rounds per year (only those drafted in each year are eligible), league play will begin in 2023 with 12F, 6D, 2G, 10bench, 30 minors. (Taro Tsujimoto League in sig)
We drafted ahead of the 2021 draft (following our 2018-2020 drafts) and here's where we netted out.

Looks like a pretty cool setup Yzerman!
So far I've seen four prospect drafts, with four different players going #1. It's gonna be a fun year ladies and gents!!! I always find the drafts ahead of the NHL's the most fascinating and looking forward to seeing more.

Here's my draft that we did a couple weeks ago. Dynasty with 16 teams going into our third year. Pretty happy with the players I got. Some people in my league seem to draft players just off of the rankings that are out there and not based off the fantasy impact they will have. A lot defensemen get taken early that don't have very high offensive potential.

Teams are only usually deep enough to support 3-4 rounds of picks so a lot of the late round guys get immediately dropped post draft. As such I wouldn't look too much into some of the odd picks in rounds 4 and 5.

Just going to touch on my Wallstedt pick briefly since I think that it may be surprising at 1. Thinking was that coming into this draft I only really needed goaltending and forwards - pretty set on D. And as I had the 9th overall pick I figured that one of the top 5 forwards would drop there and I didn't see a massive drop off between any of them. In comparison the drop from Wallstedt to Cossa was much larger and despite Wallstedt falling to 20th in the NHL, he ended up in a great landing spot and was as high as 3rd for overall talent on a lot of public lists. No one was willing to trade with me and let me move back so I bit the bullet and took him. I ended up packaging the 9th and 17th to grab Eklund at 6 so I ended up with 2 of the 3 guys I had in the top tier for this draft, so I'm pretty happy with how it worked out.

It's interesting to see people reach on Raty and pass up actual 1st round forward picks for him. He damn near fell out of the 2nd round.

Well, to be fair, a lot people had him going in the mid to late 1st round before the draft started, depending on who you read. Mackenzie had him at 28 and that's polling and combining info from 10 NHL scouts. Pronman had him at 19. I guess Bobby Mac had a better pulse on that pick but even he whiffed by a few spots.

Pretty mixed bag for rankings on Raty, but couldn't find a list that had him in the second round. Does make you wonder why he dropped so far. He did score 4 points yesterday.
Button had Raty at 22
Central scouting at 3 - EU list
ISS - 17
Mckeens at 15

Round 1
1 San Jose Matthew Beniers (SEA - C)
2 Ottawa William Eklund (SJ - W)
3 Ottawa Jesper Wallstedt (MIN - G)
4 Los Angeles Owen Power (BUF - D)
5 Anaheim Luke Hughes (NJ - D)
6 Detroit Kent Johnson (CBJ - C) I really thought I would be taking Hughes here but Johnson is a nice consolation prize. With his elite talent, I hope he can put it together and become Marner-esque.
7 Ottawa Brandt Clarke (LA - D)
8 San Jose Dylan Guenther (AZ - C)
9 Edmonton Simon Edvinsson (Det - D)
10 Anaheim Fabian Lysell (Bos - W)
Round 2
11 Anaheim Mason McTavish (Ana -C)
12 Ottawa Sebastian Cossa (Det - G)
13 Los Angeles Matthew Coronato (CGY - F)
14 Anaheim Chaz Lucius (WPG - W)
15 Tampa Bay Cole Sillinger (CBJ - W)
16 Detroit Brennan Othmann (NYR - W) I really disliked this pick and tried to trade down. I would have taken a 2022 2nd rounder but no one even offered that. This league has hits and PIM and I wanted to add more grit to my team so maybe Othmann helps in those categories a few year. Obviously, if Sillinger fell one more spot that would have been fantastic. TB paid a huge price to acquire the pick.
17 Toronto Aatu Raty (NYI - W)
18 Toronto Oskar Olausson (Col - W)
19 Edmonton Xavier Bourgault (Edm - W)
20 San Jose Fedor Svechkov (Nsh - W)
Round 3
21 San Jose Tyler Boucher (Ott - W)
22 Anaheim Simon Robertsson (Stl - W)
23 Los Angeles Isac Rosen (Buf - W)
24 San Jose Zachary Bolduc (Stl - W)
25 Edmonton Nikita Chibrikov (Edm - W)
26 Detroit Corson Ceulemans (CBJ-D) Very happy with this pick. I needed to add a D prospect and it was going to be either Ceulemans or Lambos. I was prepared to trade up to #25 if one of them was taken but I didn't need to.
27 Winnipeg Carson Lambos (MIN- D)
28 Toronto Olen Zellweger (Ana - D)
29 San Jose Alexei Kolosov (Phi - G)
30 Toronto Sasha Pastujov (Ana - F)
Round 4
31 San Jose Logan Stankoven (Dal - W)
32 Anaheim Samu Tuomaala (PHI - W)
33 Los Angeles Matthew Samoskevich (FLA - F)
34 San Jose Ayrton Martino (Dal - W)
35 Washington Francesco Pinelli (LA - F)
36 Detroit Zachary L'Heureux (Nsh - F) LOVE this pick. I actually considered him at 26 but that was when I thought I'd get Hughes so I wouldn't be focused on D at #26. It's a boom or bust pick but if it hits at #36 it makes up for some misses in the top 10 in other drafts.
37 San Jose Zach Dean (VGK - W)
38 Anaheim Daniil Chayka (VGK - D)
39 Edmonton William Strongren (Cgy - W)
40 San Jose Tristan Broz (PIT - F)
Round 5
41 Tampa Bay Dylan Duke (TB - F)
42 Tampa Bay Raphael Lavoie (EDM - F)
43 Toronto Sean Behrens (COL - D)
44 Edmonton Scott Morrow (CAR- D)
45 Tampa Bay Ville Koivunen (CAR- W)
46 Toronto Matthew Knies (TOR- W)
47 Toronto Ty Voit (TOR- W)
48 Tampa Bay Kirill Gerasimyuk (Fla - G)
49 Edmonton Chase Stillman NJ W
50 Detroit Prokhor Poltapov (BUF-W) Pretty pleased with this pick. Sounds like another boom or bust prospect. Buffalo fans really like this pick. And if he stays in Russia for a couple years that is fine with me.
Overall, I am not really happy with the draft. With this weird year, rankings were all over the place after the top dozen or so which made me less confident of my picks. I did somewhat lean more on draft order. I put some trust in NY that they knew what they were doing with Othmann since that is the pick I dislike the most. We'll see.
