Concerning Klefbom; Quite confident the exemption only applies to injured players with NMC, so if a player misses X amount of games a team isn’t forced to use a protection slot.

Klefbom doesn’t have a NMC therefore no exemption is needed to leave him exposed. NTCs don’t require protection because being exposed isn’t a trade, and besides, he doesn’t have a full NTC anyway.

There is no clause to keep injured players as a freebie but also no real incentive for Seattle to take the risk either.

Edmonton didn't acquire a prospect, they acquired an extra contract, and it's actually a conditional 2nd rather than a third. Now, are the conditions likely to be met? No, but still. L M A O.

i am really disappointed in kenny holland overall. i am willing to admit i definitely bought into the kool-aid that he would put a good plan in place since he presumably knew what he was doing. disappointing. not for edmonton, mostly for connor. really sucks when your team is incapable of putting a legitimately good team around you. nothing will be quite like when lebron left cleveland the first time but there is absolutely no way that i can believe connor is totally happy right now and his patience will only grow more weary

Here’s a fun fact: If Keith were to retire after the 21-22 season:

-#LetsGoOilers would lose his $5.5M actual cap hit in 22-23 & instead have a $3.4M negative cap hit (cap savings), for a swing of $8.9M
