Holland was terrible in Detroit. You may want to revisit what he actually did there besides spend way too much money. He did not acquire any of the core of his championship teams.

There is no way the Oilers are protecting Keith. It would be so stupid...almost as stupid as trading for him in the first place.

Keith has a NMC so they have to protect in the expansion draft.

It actually looks significantly worse since Jones is a much better left shot NHL dman than Duncan Keith is at this stage of their careers.

I'm not so sure about this statement. Jones is not a reliable player at this point in his career.

Beaudin played 19 games and has averaged 1 minute more on PP than CJ. He should be second offensive option on that D.

Boqvist is RD and he will be the man in chicago ...at least will be given opportunity to be one.

Keith was given PP time just cause he is Keith, they wont give that to CJ.

Waived contractual privileges don't become active again due to assignment of the contract from one team to another unless the team and Keith ripped up the old contract and replaced it with a new one bearing a new NMC. Or the contract had a specific provision that upon trading the NMC becomes active again. If that's the case, then scratch this post.

That is only if the player is traded before the NMC has become active in his contract (ie before he is eligible for group 3 free agency). Not the case here.

CBA §11.8 amended to provide that No-Trade and No-Move

How I see it panning out.

Nurse, Keith, and Bear will be protected.

Klefbom will be exposed and avoided by Seattle, too risky and he will miss another season to boot.

Larsson will be re-signed post expansion draft.

Barrie is as good as gone. The team wants that spot open for Bouchard.

Regarding Klefbom - the rule reads:

If a player has missed 60 or more games in the previous season, they do not meet the criteria for the Expansion Draft and are exempt. These are mostly players who have spent a majority of the previous season on Long Term Injured Reserve.

That would pro-rate to 41 games in a 56 game season. Klefbom missed them all and is on LTIR. I am fairly certain Klefbom will be exempt.
