Caufield will be a lot like Max Pacioretty only a little better. Perennial 30-40 goals and 60-70 pts year in and year out with a ppg season every so often as well.
Trying to gauge what people see Cole Caufield ceiling is?
I currently have him in my “minors” so I can stash him up until he has played 150 regular season games if I wanted to.
this is for the team in my SIG I currently have a GM who’s in a rebuild extremely interested in him and is putting M.Tkachuk on the table as a player that I could possibly acquire (probably have to add a little on my end) but is Caufields scoring ability enough to hold off on Tkachuk or do people think he’ll be limited by the lack of offence in MTL.

I see him as a good 60ish pt guy, give or take. The Habs aren't known to have high scoring forwards so I'm reserved in my estimation.

Habs need to give him more support, Suzuki will need it too. So for now I can see about 65 points. If Habs improve their offense then I can see mid 70s to low 80’s. Good luck

Not sure I'd call this bangers league when you're only awarding 0.3 for hits and pims. That being said, I do think offensively, he could be just as effective as Caufield, if not better some years.
How long can you keep Caufield in your minors? I'm assuming you'd have to drop a roster player to make room for Mtkachuk if you were to make the deal.

Seriously though...
Jack Hughes said it best, after playing with Cole Caufield in the USHL/USDP-18 and WJC U20, and going to play in the WC on a line with Alex Debrincat that same year, he said it was like playing with Cole. They were virtually identical players in style and skill he said. Maybe there are subtle differences, but the automatic comparison has always been Debrincat. Only difference being the Cat has Patrick Kane feeding him the puck, where as (and this is no disrespect), Cole has Nick Suzuki feeding him. So expect 30 goals and 60 points most seasons, with a sprinkle of 35-40 goal, 70-80 point years, determining how good Nick's ceiling is, as goal scorers are only as good as their set up man. Think I am full of crap, see Adam Oates and Craig Janney with Brett Hull and Cam Neely. A great playmaker can make those guys a 50 goal scorer. A phenomenal playmaker can turn those guys into goal-per-game players.
I rest my case! I SAID I REST MY CASE!
Okay, levelling up again on the seriousness, there isn't anyone as creative as using the opposing defender as a screen against their goaltender like Cole, or has the variety in his arsenal in terms of shot selection and ways he can burn you than this little scamper. Also, he's very underrated as a playmaker and a passer. Kid is a surgeon with his shots, in how he picks and threads a puck in the tightest of net estate. He's something special and it pisses me off because I traded him away because the other GM had a temper tantrum and I caved in. Ugh. We may never speak of it again. At least I corrected that mishap and ended up getting another midget Cole, in Cole Perfetti, who I believe to possess a higher upside in the points department.
I am a hockey obsessed fiend.

I'd say the surrounding cast will play a big factor in his eventual output. If Montreal can find someone like Patrick Kane for him to play with, sure. I don't see a Kane in their system and they won't ever get bad enough to be able to draft one. That is what will limit Caufield more than anything.

Right- that’s why I said things have to break right in Montreal for him to reach his ceiling. Obviously, linemates and usage affect a player’s output. If I had to predict Caufield’s production I would say 65-70 pts. And who knows- maybe Suzuki takes a couple steps becoming a star and he pairs with Caufield to make an elite top line. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.
