Default Duncan Keith trade talks heating up

    https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/stat...41882849267720

"There are rumblings Chicago is working on a potential Duncan Keith trade to either the Pacific Northwest or Western Canada. Word is Keith and team are working together to get him to a place he wants to go. We will see where this goes."

    https://twitter.com/PierreVLeBrun/st...71267274883076

"Nothing imminent or close as far as a trade at this point, according to sources.
But as Elliotte says, there are ongoing talks. Duncan Keith very much has a say in all this via his no-move. This is about potentially finding a fit that works for him. No guarantee it happens."

Title should read “Duncan Keith retires from hockey”. That would make sense.

Keith is definitely good enough to play on a 3rd pairing. Give him 15-17 minutes instead of the 22+ the Hawks have been giving him and he’ll be fine. Also, his actual salary is 2.1 and 1.5 M over the next 2 seasons so in this flat cap, post-COVID landscape, that will attractive to some teams.

Not good enough to play anymore? I would assume he is. We aren't NHL talent scouts here.
He can play - not 25+ minutes a night, but he can be serviceable in a bottom pairing.

In the military, we would call this a retirement posting!

He's an excellent fit for Seattle if he's willing to wave his clause to play there. 3rd pair, penalty kill and a leader to teach to the young guys.

I don't see a way where he agrees to be traded to be bought out.

Keith is still a viable NHL Dman but he's no where near worth his $5.5M cap hit anymore, for two more seasons. Chicago is going to have to eat cap and probably take a hit on the assets coming back due to Keith picking his team he wants to go to.

As the Comish well knows this also embraces the concept of "Depart with Dignity". All too often athletes these days who have had outstanding careers and done so much for their respective games are cast aside and life goes on. That is not Departing with Dignity. I hope things work out for Duncan Keith and he can indeed Retire with Dignity and on his own terms, IMO he deserves that as do all such athletes who have brought the best of the game to the fans for years.

Keith has never been much of a talker and there's been a few times over the years when you'd wish he'd stay silent. He doesn't have the reputation of being some team-leader, glue guy in the room. Not to say that he's ever been a distraction but he was never really one of the core leadership guys in the room like Seabrook, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, and even Kane. For those unaware. Kane has become one of the major leaders on the team over the years. He is polite and talkative with reporters and is great with the younger players such as Debrincat and Strome.

Good insights DDN, I didn’t know that about Keith. Interesting how Kane has grown up.

I've never been a Duncan Keith fan. I've always seen him as a dirty player.

He's never been a get-even, eye-for-an-eye player. He's a "I'll see your borderline hit and I'll raise you." IIRC all of his dirty plays have been retaliatory and he definitely does have a temper. I kinda respect that about Keith.
