    Default Tarasenko - Blues shopping

    https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/seraval...ekman-larsson/

""The St. Louis Blues are exploring a trade for star winger Vladimir Tarasenko. While Tarasenko does hold the cards with a full no-trade clause, upon further vetting, it appears the player has alerted St. Louis to several teams he’d be willing to be dealt. A change of scenery is in order.

Tarasenko, 29, has two years remaining on his deal at $7.5 million per season. He has played just 34 games total over the last two seasons as a result of a recurring shoulder injury – but those issues has been corrected and he is healthy."

There's been Tank rumours for a number of years. They started around when he bristled a bit with then head coach Hitchcock, but they seemed to linger even after that.

That's a lot of cap to gamble on for a guy who hasn't been healthy for a couple years now.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe that's the gamble.

i can definitely see LA making a play for him as rumoured to give Kopitar someone actually good to play with for a run in the last years of his prime

la wouldnt need the blues to retain salary so if the ask in prospects isnt too crazy i can see it happening

I don't know what STL long term plan is. They have Schenn, Faulk, Krug, and Binnington signed longterm, but that's it. I guess moving Tarasenko would replenish some youth to go with Kyrou. If you move Tarasenko, do you think about moving Perron and ROR though?

Star power on the wing in a marquee destination, cap space to make it work, and plenty of youth for STL to restock the cupboard. Makes a lot of sense.

i do wonder with the acquisition of arvidsson if this will effectively halt talks for tarasenko. i believe they could/should still acquire tarasenko haha

Considering they only gave up picks for Arvidsson, still an option. VA replaces Athanasiou and a trade for Tank gives them the flexibility to move Brown down to line 2 or 3. Hell, I'm straight up rooting for this to happen now lol

He'll be the Eichel 2nd place prize.

2yrs left, 7.5mill. Not a lot of hockey on the legs the last couple of yrs. So if he's healthy, and maybe STL takes salary, could be a great trade. I wonder if this was out of the blue for the Blues, or was this happening for a while and now it's just out there because if it was out of nowhere for them, who knows when it'll get done.

Athletic believes blues have quietly been shopping him for a few months now. No real takers as of now

I'm curious how you can quietly shop a top end player without that getting leaked by either side of the trade in today's age of "hit news gets follows".

But I guess that's why a player formally asks, to get it out there.
