I think I’m dropping Hellebuyck. Strategic advice needed.

Goalie keepers aren't based off of ceiling of talent to much in my eyes, it's based off of their floor. You want a goalie that at a minimum will be a top 5 goalie. Helly will be a top goalie every yr because of his use, teams ability to win, and the teams inability to defend. He'll get saves, starts and wins consistently.

I know Hamilton is well liked around my league so I will trade him or keep working on a 2-for-1.

I'd be reluctant to drop Hellebuyck... I'd be heavily pursuing a 2-for-1, or moving someone for better draft capital. And Ovechkin is probably the guy I'd be looking to move, even if you can't maximize his value at this point in his career. Not only is Ovechkin 35, but you also have Svechnikov/Tkachuk/Kaprizov/Lafreniere at LW. You really don't need him in that position .

12 team... keep the perennial top 5 G. The way NHL teams roll tandems anymore, more than half your league will be hard pressed to roster 2 solid Gs and this often forces GMs to carry multiple 1A/Bs (which you have already in minors) instead of skater depth that will win you the Ship. I think the drop is either Ovie or Hammy and I cringe to even write that.

*UPDATE*

My post was the talked about by Rick Roos in Forum Buzz on the mainpage. OV was his suggested drop if I couldn’t make a deal.

I finally was able to make a trade in the 3rd last day of our fall trade window. Our draft is next week.

I traded OV and Varlamov for a 3rd this year and two 2nds next year.

I tried so many deals:
- OV and Patty Kane for Panarin
- OV, Kane and a 2nd for Draisaitl
- OV for a 1st
- Etc etc

I’m ok with the deal. I’ve got my locked in 8 keepers and we able to dilute the re-drafting pool for the guy who has 4 1sts and the guy who has 3 1sts.
