Definition of Petulant Athlete - See Vince Carter, James Harden...

dont know if there is good example in hockey but based on some previous interviews and ways he behaves at times, if there is going to be first, Eichel could be as good as any to be just that.

Nabokov refused to report to the NYI, Lindross drafted by the Nordiques, PLD, Laine, Tony DeAngelo... It's not as uncommon as you may think.

I didn't pay that close attention to the drama, but my understand was he was dogging it in CLB. If I'm wrong on that then I retract his name.

ETA - took a moment to think on the subject further. Carter sulking his way out of CLB, Yashin mailing it in everywhere, Ziggy Pallfy was regularly called out in local broadcasts for his attitude and bad body language though to be fair I don't recall if he was trying to force a trade or just was tired of losing on the island.

Now you don't have the benefit of offseason flexibility and that $10MM a year cap hit further drives down the return. I totally get what you're saying, but there are worse situations BUF management can be in and, frankly, I don't see how they bring him back in line and rebuild his value if he decides to go that route.
ROR wanted out, basically publicly quit on the team. Buffalo traded him in what can only be considered a disaster of a trade (even considering the money implications). If I'm running the Sabres, I simply do not trade him if it's a discounted package due to his health status.

if you looking for exact scenario Eichel is in..yeah probably wont find one ...apparently this surgery has never been done in NHL...

but if you looking for petulant professional players as you stated earlier, those are great examples even if Laine is not the best one the rest are...

as usual you trying to single out one guy that may not be exactly greatest fit when proven wrong...just admit you are wrong and move on...much easier then being ...oh well you add the word in here...

    many fit..non of them nice.

Better than being a toading sniveling suck-butt...

I was simply arguing the point that it's stupid for Buffalo to take an underwhelming return (which is all they are going to get right now) for Eichel as he is completely damaged goods. If you want to hold up one or two douchy examples as to why they should further mismanage their assets in this fashion...well then ok I guess. An overwhelming % of NHL players are professionals and conduct themselves accordingly. I'm not trading a superstar because DuBois acted mike a complete arsehole last season. That's just...well...horrble asset management. Which has been my point all along.

Again - bush league stuff from the Sabres GM. Just openly admit you don't consider Eichel part of the future of the club. Hand every other GM in the league a little more bargaining power. Pathetic. Just keep you damn mouth shut you idiot. This organization is screwed for the foreseeable future.

I'll try to dig up some quotes from Friedman the other day but he insinuated that teams were balking at the huge ask from Adams and at least one team walked away from trade talks because Eichel's potential surgery has been put off for so long and each day it is put off makes it more likely he'll miss a significant chunk of next season.

I think Anaheim backed off because Buffalo was asking for Zegras and Anaheim said no to him involved in the trade.

This is done prior to the draft right? Or he's not moved until next yr prior to July 1st when his NMC would kick in?

Maybe at the draft? The Athletic writers seem to think it'll most likely be the Kings. Like I said, in my opinion now is the worst time to trade him. But what do I know.

Ya the NHL season is REALLY close. It's only 60 some odd days away. I can't believe Eichel would have a great season if he has neck surgery and comes back mid-season.

97 days, as of today. But still, that's not a lot of time. Acquiring GMs have to be thinking that if he avoids surgery but has to be shut down halfway through the season, that they'll have LTIR to use but then they need to deal even more assets to fill the void. If they agree to the surgery then how fit will he be in the second half of the season, especially since we just saw what the entire league went through with the Covid disruption? This is a cautious and conservative bunch by nature. You can say they should be playing to win, but they're going to try to minimize risk which is going to continue to limit how high the Eichel offers go IMO.
