I don’t see Vegas giving Theodore either.

But I also don’t see how they fit Eichel under the cap without altering the long-term balance of their team. A Toronto scenario 2.0 in the making. Who knows, maybe they manage to succeed in this era with ~45% of their cap spent on 4 players.

From Buffalo's perspective, it only makes sense if Theodore is involved.

That said, I doubt Buffalo gets a fair return on, so more than likely it's only a package of picks and prospects and a high-priced player like Karlsson.

Now, this is very unverified. But the guy did get a bunch of other sports takes right

SOURCE: The Buffalo Sabres are putting the finishing touches on a trade that would send center Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights. Multiple picks involved as well as prospects Peyton Krebs and Pavel Dorofeyev going to Buffalo.

The Jack Eichel sweepstakes has come down to the same two teams every star player sweepstakes comes down to, the Flames and the team that will actually get them.

It's been Vegas for a long time but Calgary's name is still being mentioned so that Buffalo has a bit of leverage.

At this stage, I'm sure everything has been determined except the conditions. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of conditions on this deal based on how many games Eichel plays and how well Vegas does in the playoffs.

The good news is that no one actually cheers for Buffalo so no one will be upset when the return is garbage.

Man, what an ordeal. And I think the deadline for a likely trade was always mid November so he would be back in time to make an impact.

Going in Drai def needs some offensive spart and even tho it's 8+ weeks away, it's good to hear.

I was listening to a pod this morning where they were saying, depending on the surgery he goes with, and assuming a trade occurs he will get the surgery HE wants, he's looking at roughly an 8-10 week recovery time with his surgery choice.

So lets say for argument sakes that he gets dealt this weekend (wishful thinking, I know but this is hypothetical) then get the surgery actually lined up to happen (probably a week or two after the trade happens) and then the recovery time. If I look at the calander, and start adding weeks, he COULD be back by mid to end of January if the stars align. Then, how he still has to get up to game speed, which could be one of his bigger hurdles. If all goes well, whoever acquires him shouldnt expect a truly healthy and effective Eichel until the playoffs at best and most likely not until next season.

Ya, I heard the person who said it's at the 1yrd line say it could be 3months before he's back, depending on the shape he's in. Gets surgery and 2months of recovery + game shape time. And we all know how players play when starting mid-season. But man, the possibility of a Pac/Eichel/Stone line...oh mamma.

I'm hoping to tread water until Kuch comes back. But so far I'm drowning.

I do. Believe it or not, we're out here. The Buffalo fanbase it deeply frustrated, but loyal. If there's one benefit of being a Buffalo sports fan, that's it -- a fraternity bonded by long periods of suffering makes it easy to spot the fair-weather johnny-come-latelys when things actually start going well (such as Sabres circa 1999, 2005, '06, '07; and Bills current day).
